What does everyone think about a possible Ghostbusters Convention. Maybe in 2 years sometime in 2004 during the 20th Anniversary year. Post any thoughts about this that you might have.

Why not try a group gathering? ASAP has them all the time, and there was a Ghosthead gathering in SoCal a few weeks ago.

Thats not such a bad idea I don't think.
Its not like it would have to be a huge convention. If you rent out a small bingo hall for a night, I doubt it would be that much. Have people bring there props with, trade Idea's, help people build props, Show both movies on a big screen at the end of the thing.

I don't know there just a few ideas.

Yeah I mean we might as well be open to any possibilities instead of just condeming them right off the bat. Yes it would be hard to get organized and put together and we may have less people than some conventions but I beleive it could be done. Not to mention if we did it in 2004 there would be more and more interest. More people are joining GB.net all the time. You never know when someone will rediscover Ghostbusters. I didnt until about 2 years ago when I was 15.

ok guys,,,
actually, it's a good idea!!
of course, there's the location and cost problems, but if we think it out and everyone helps, we can do something cool....
of course, they'd be cool...but unlikely stuff...like dan turning up in ecto-1..lol
but we could do something cool...
in fact for a location, why not NYC,
it's ok for all you north americans and still not *too* far for us europeans....
so what do you say: NYC in 2k4???
keep postin'
venkman wink

Thanks RJ.

Everyone thinks too big, if you want to hold a convention. Start it small. We aren't talking about renting hotels, or even bingo halls. Just have it at someones house.

Eventually there will be quite a few people if you keep doing that. Also around here there are a lot of young Ghostbusters Fans. But not enough to pay a lot of money to go to a big convention.

More people would go then just someones house. Jeez I hate this board why is everyone so negative about this. Fine I give up. I dont care anymore stop arguing against it and no longer post in it. Jeez, this kind of stuff makes me want to forget about any of this. Its like why build props, watch the movie almost ritually, make a website, and then turn around and be like "theres no point having a convention." I bet alot of people dont think theres a point in making props or websites and flightsuits either but a lot of you condeming the convention idea have done these things.

Hey, don't get down-hearted. It was a good idea, and someone has to be up front and organise it. Although this wil take time and commitment, I'm sure someone will do it. Don't forget, a Star Trek fan had the same idea once, and look at it now. Would Columbia Tristar be interested? What about Dan Aykroyd? Don't know until you ask. My only problem is this: I live in the UK, otherwise I would go. (But if you're willing to pay for me to stay in a nice hotel, I'll consider it...!)

Convention sound like a good idea, so be brave - suck in the guts guys, we're the ghostbusters.

You know what? We've started small for the past 6 years. Yes! A Whoping 6 whole years people! We've got the drive, the people that were 12 back then are now 18. Think about it. We've had 6 years of maturing. If we try, we can get the boat a' sailin'.

We're all buds here, and we're all older- or atleast if you were on Bill's Board. I find that there's no way that we couldn't have a convention. If some one has the money and lives in New York they can pay a coordinator to plan the thing, or maybe if they're organized enough they could plan it themselves. It's not hard if we just hook up. If it gets started, I'll start spreadin' the word on the East Coast. It'll happen.

no.1 a ghostbusters convention would be a very good idea
no.2 if it's gonna be done and people want it done big for the first time, get in touch with the right people.
get petitions because if sent to columbia instead of sony it might get looked at.
send it to the right people i.e. maybe if sent to harold ramis, dan akroyd, or even ivan reitman.. i mean jeez just look at the kind of other conventions are out there. star wars, star trek, the transformers botcons. all very popular, and i know for a fact that ghostbusters is as popuar as any of those other things.

as for starting small that is a very good idea. but maybe not so small as someone's house, but maybe a bingo hall or any local firehalls might have a banquet hall you could rent.
get an idea of where many of the ghostheads are located and get it started there. sa for myself i know atleast 50 people here in the baltimore area that know and love ghostbusters. anyway these are my ideas. like it or not they're there for those who have constructive criticim and not ot be shot down. daneghostbuster had a good idea. so did ectoman and sg1star. just don't go at each others throats over something like this. i also know how long there have been convention threads on this board.

ok that's enough from me. even im getting tired of me. i will stop now.
