Whats the deal with Dan Ackroyd appearing on "Casper"?

You should remember Dan Ackroyd was on the Casper movie they make in the 90s. Was the proton pack he wore one of the originals or a new one made just for that movie?

vego-it was the first casper movie with christina ricci (schwing!) 
it's been so long since i've seen the movie, i can't really remember if it was an original pack or not. can anyone get a screen cap? i'm sure the experts over at asap would know.

All the cameo is that the owners of the house are trying to get rid of the ghosts; Fatso, Stretch, and Stinky, and they try everything, including Ray Stantz, now with stylish facial hair!!
Chairs and stuf are thrown out of the house, and Ray comes running out, saying: "Who 'Ya Gonna Call? Someone else."
--It's neat to see Ray and all, but it's total crap! The only reason Ray would really run is because his Proton Pack failed on him. Fatso, Stretch, and Stinky are absolutely no match for a Proton Pack! Why the heck Didn't Ray just open the Ghost Trap?

The reason is that it was not a GB movie, it was just a little kids movie, the plot did not revolve around Ray, it was just a funny thing, like the exorcist with HIS neck twisted round, it does not relate to GBs.
As for the pack, i have no idea!

I know, but they could have come up with some reason, like having smoke be pouring out of the Pack, indicating his Pack's not working. That scene gives the GB's a bad name!

Don't take that scene too personally. I mean, it's just cameo that poked fun at the Ghostbusters.

I remember going to see Casper when it came out. When that scene came on, I was both horrified and exicted. It was so cool seeing him on screen in full gear, but I too was disgusted with the way they treated a Ghostbuster. It also didn't help having a GB cameo in a movie that nobody liked.

Come to think of it, the movie didn't look too good. There was a little too much dark humor and um... "tension" between Casper and Christina Ricci's character for it to be a charming kids movie.

I'm sure that the reason for Ray's failure, other than the making fun of Ghostbusters, was because, he was busting them by himself. Every Ghosthead knows that at takes at least two or more Ghostbusters to bust a ghost. It takes one or more to lasso the ghost(s) with the neutronas and one to work the trap. There. Problem solved.
