My Promotion Quest... I GOT PROMOTED!!!!!

As some of you know, I am a member of the Air Training Corps (RAF Cadets) and with all military organisations you have rank structure. Due to several of our NCOs leaving there are a few vacant places for promotion to the rank or corporal!
Well you see, I have to undergo a training and selection process, this is what has ,me worried. At my squadron I am one of the most senior cadets, and I believe that I could probabley make it...
...as long as I don't stuff up any of the training!  So here we go, I've already made a presentation on UFOs there, (this was to see how well I could take a lecture) and I did pretty well... moved around a little too much... and occasonally looked at the floor, but I was clear, loud and interesting...
As the training progresses I'll keep you updated.

Best of luck... I was in the RAF branch of my school's CCF (Combined Cadet Force - it's a rather antiquated tradition, but I loved it) and I've been through a lot of the things you'll know about...
I have a lot of stories about that, too... logging hours in the Chipmunk trainers before they were superceded by the new Bulldogs; gliding lessons; being in the last group to visit RAF Laarbruch before it was shut down...

Yeah, we use the Grob Tutor light aircraft now... it replaced the Bulldog.

Wow. Another new trainer?
Damn, but I miss the old Chipmunks. They might've been antiquated, but they had style.
(I wonder... does GB:UK need air support? )
Seriously, I was involved with the CCF for five years, left as a sergeant - having been promoted to that position in order to process the paperwork and run the stores. Our OIC (actually a teacher who was a reserve officer) didn't understand his computer!
We also had our own .22 range on site, and I had the opportunity to use the L98-A1 on MoD ranges.
This REALLY takes me back... I should go see if I can find the photos of me in Harrier Maintenance at RAF Leuchars...

So this weekend I took part in a Banner Competition, a hell of a lot of drill with a huge flag. I was the banner bearer, in otherwords... the star! So anyway, I did pretty well, we all did, my team! I think it's really helped my cause!

I just sat a promotion interview... the FINAL stage of my quest. I don't know how it went, good points and bad points. I got into a little argument with an officer...
