Ok, let's get this straight right now. This regards when people are posted with links from non-mods.
I am a regular member as you could probably tell from the "Ghosthead" under my alias. I have noticed that when someone like me posts a link to a thread that was made before a certain thread with the same subject, we can't lock it immediately as the mods can. When we do this it seems that people continue the thread, despite the link that was posted. CONTINUE THE THREAD UNDER THE LINK THAT WAS POSTED. It does not need to be locked for people to stop the conversation. Once another link is posted, that thread should be retired, even if it hasn't been locked, and should continue on the older thread.
Daryl (Ghostbuster_D) has said it best in a thread he locked recently here:
"Okay, it's time for a little lesson. You don't have to wait for a mod to lock a thread in order to stop talking. When someone posts a link in a thread to a previous thread about the same topic, you are to go to that previous thread and continue the discussion there. If you read the ghostbusters.net member rules which are at the top of all of the forums, you will see that repeat threads are not allowed. As a Mod, it is my duty to enforce these rules, but if I (or another mod) don't see that there is a problem, it doesn't mean that the rules don't apply. Repeat threads will be locked, but you are to stop using the new thread as soon as a link to the old thread is posted, you are not to wait until the thread is locked. Thank you"

Listen to this guy. It doesn't matter if the mods post a link or not, as long as it's posted. The word moderator under someones name isn't what gives the person the ability to enforce the rules. The username is what gives a person the ability to enforce the rules. The word moderator only means that the person can actually do something about it, which the mods will do whether their the people who enforce the rules or not. Thank you
