I'm not too up on Jewish customs, but I was wondering, does any one know why they are circumsised?

actually, Iain, in America it isnt really a just Jewish cutsom, basically almost every American is circumsized. The reason most are is to prevent penile infection, but the jewish reason...fun? lol

Actually it isn't a Jewish custom, its a Jewish LAW. Its in the Bible, Deuteronomy I think (whichever book outlines the laws of Judaism). The practice drifted down to the other religions of the Book (Christianity and Islam). Since Europe and the Americas are predominantly Christian, most men are circumcised.
PS: Did you know that in Islam, circumcision is not done until the child is 7 or 8 years old. Its a very big deal, like a coming of age. Yipes.
PPS: Hey Chadbennedme, there's nothing wrong with being curious about another person's religion. Its NOT being curious and wanting to learn about other religions that causes problems. BTW, if you've been banned before, look forward to it happening again.

It's a type of custom that they use to make the penis look bigger or make sex better, or apart of a religous belief. All I know that they remove the left over foreskin the penis, and Also Hindu and Moslum Sects do that, of course, the to females, which is bad because they can get Urinary Infections and some cultures of Africa do it , aswell.
Just for the record , I have Jewish cousins, aswell.

circumcision is part of the jewish covenant with the biblical god. And i belive muslums circumcise at age 13. i'm just glad i'm a girl.
