Top Ten reasons to own a Gamecube...

I saw this in the Nintendo Power mag for this month and figured i oughta pass it along....
10. The handle. Ok, so its a little goofy, but imagine tryin to take an Xbox with you to a friends house or on vacation. you would need a crane and a parking permit..
9. It only plays games. Thats right. Anyone who tells you that playing DVD on a game console is a benefit has never had someone monopolize the machine for hours playing Meg Ryan movies while the rental game you have to return in three hours gathers dust.
8. Its more powerful than a PS2. PS2 has slower processors and its graphics are noticeable inferior to the GCN. Sorry, theres nothing funny about that.
7. Gone Platinum. The platinum GCN is a work of art, shiny and sophisticated. PS2 and Xbox look like every other piece of electronics hardware that has come out in the last 20 years, and dust really shows on those black cases..
6. The controller design. The PS2 controller has way too many buttons, and teh Xbox controller was designed for a giant or octopus. The GCN controller is elegant and practical.
5. Experience. Nintendo has consistenly produced the highest quality video games for more than two decades dating back to Donkey Kong. You can bet that nintendo will continue to do so in the future. Twenty years ago, Sony was making Betamax tapes and Microsoft hadnt even come up with Windows yet..
4. The freedom of the Wavebird controller. You can play from the bathroom if necessary, let freedom ring...
3. The Gameboy player. MOre than a hundred million people have a Gameboy and games, and all of them can play their games on the big screen..
2. Connectivity. Sony and Microsoft cant do it because they dont have Gameboy. They have robotic dogs and word procesors. Lets face it, they're not really game companies. But Nintendo does only games and innovative ways to play them with connectivity.
1. Exclusivity. The GCN offers Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Metriod Prime, Resident Evil Zero, Super mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, Star Fox Adventures, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, Mario Kart, Metroid 2, Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3, Pikmin 2, Resident Evil 4, Soul Cailiber 2 as Link. (thats 15 exclusive reason GCN reigns supreme. Try naming 15 exclusive hits for PS2. As for Xbox, you can count the number of exclusive hit titles for it on one finger).
Like i said, just a little something for Naysayers in the gaming community who hate Nintendo...

Gamecube is the best dudes because it just is PS2 has none of its own games and if it does its just sequal after sequal how many more tomb raders can there be
but its a close call with the X-box not much wrong with it just too dam big

You really only have 13 games listed there as only to PS2.Since the Final Fantasy series was first on the nintendo system back in the day.

hmm...well as for the controller.....(as i have both ps2 and gcn....) ps2 only has 1 more button than gcn...lol...so ps2 having the big 1 too many buttons...lol...i like them both...just happens most of my games are ps2...

Although I agree that the original XBOX controller was little more than a watermellon with buttons, they've switched to a better design now so that's not really an issue. And since the Gamecube controller is basically a PlayStation rip-off, Nintendo loses the controller argument.
Nintendo Power, Official U.S. Playstation Magazine, and whatever the official XBOX mag is called (can't remember the name) are all crappy magazines full of nothing but propaganda. I'll stick with my trusty EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) thankyouverymuch. EGM gives equal coverage to all systems (well, coverage based upon demand).
I like the Gamecube. I like the PS2. I even like the XBOX. Frankly, my main issues with any system are all the same. I've been a hardcore gamer for years, and the lack of good games in the past five years has been astounding. My NES consistently gets more play time than my GameCube, PS2, and XBOX combined! Why? Because I've yet to see a good Contra game in years! Although there is a PS2 Contra game coming out, the PS1 Contra games suck! TMNT is another favorite of mine. I don't care if the TMNT franchise was dead for ten years, the point is that no truly great co-op games have come out since the death of the SNES. A few have tried (Perfect Dark for one), but despite their great efforts and extras, they still can't compare to the legend amongst legends: Toejam and Earl.
I'm sick and tired of people choosing one game system over the other and pledging allegiance to that company. It's different with computer systems because they truly offer a difference. With game systems however, it's either one rip-off game or the other. Original games haven't come out in years.
The whole "console wars" mae me sick in the SNES vs. Genesis days (I own both), and they make me sick now.

If I had 159 dollars to go buy a Video game system I would buy a NES and alot of games....but I have a Gamecube and a Nes so why would I do a thing like that?

I totally agree with brian_reilly. I mean, why do so many people get so hung up on which console is "the best"? People get in arguments over it. I hardly even talk to people about gaming anymore because of this. My sister owns a PS2, I own an Xbox, and my sisters boy friend owns a 'cube (which I can borrow from him if I want)... I like them all. I don't favor one over the other. If I like a game, I buy it and play it. Its as simple as that. Why doesn't everyone think this way? The answer is beyond me. Some people are just idiots I guess...

didnt really wanna start a war...just wanted to pass along that bit of reasons..i thought it was a good list. But as far as the console exclusive mags out there, i agree. Basically they just say every game for their system is better than the one before it or on another console. Not really objective about it. But only prob i have with the "objective" mags, EGM or Gameinformer is that basically they review only so many games a month..and if you have one system they usually review 6 games for it. only 6 outta all of the ones out there for that particular system/handheld/pc.
oh and JC...they said "name 15 exclusive HITS for the system, not just 15 games..." lol.
