I have always liked Egon. He and Ray tie in 1st place, because they're always so enthusiastic about their new inventions/discoveries. All Peter does is joke around. Nevertheless, he's still fun. I don't think we see enough of Winston, but its a tie between him and Peter, because they're both humourous and down to earth.

I would have to say that they are all my favourites, but if I REALLY had to pick one, it would be Venkman because he is the most persistant and humourous, plus he gets the girl in the end!!!!

This is a good quesiotn, but you must realize nearly every joke in the movie requires you to know more than one of the GBs personalities. From the first time Ray and Pete share the screen in the "negative reinforcement on ESP" test to Winston and Egon talking about Nike's for the Statue of Liberty. They are a mainly reflecting group, probably the best group with respect to chemistry ever. I mean, the TMNTurtles were basically all the same, with intelligence and attitude varying. Put the main question at stake this way and see how you react: if you could only have three Ghostbusters, who would it be? Hard to answer, isn't it? (My fave is Ray)

My favorite is definitely Peter. Yeah, he's a smart-ass, but he proves in both movies that he can be serious and get the job done when he has to. I can respect someone who knows when to focus and when to relax. That, and I love his sense of humor.
Of course, the whole thing doesn't work without the group chemistry, so this is just a matter of semantics. *wink* But throw my vote in for Peter anyway.

My fave has always been Peter...for many reasons but one of the main ones is that he's a smartass....I have a strange liking for smartasses, even though I am one, I dunno why...
