GB2 probably just because I watched it A LOT when I was a little kid and didn't see the original until I was about 10 years old. I guess it just got drilled into my brain or something.

I believe sequels to be by-products even if they're in the same category (movies) than the original. So even if the second one could be as good as the original (that it wasn't) it'd still be lacking something: Originality.
And does it lack it, GB2. Tame, tired and already felling like a "reunion movie" after five years, it can't compare with the real-thing feel, freshness and impact of Ghostbusters. At least, everybody was in it.
Oh, and the "high-tech" angle so prominent in the original was all but crushed in the sequel.

I guess I like GB1 better.

Being a 17 year-old, I agree with Bobby J. Whether it makes sense or not, I seemed to understand the plot of GB2 easier. (?) (Looking back now I think it is GB1 that has the simpler plot.... no positive/negative slime...) I disagree with Dr. Spectrum though - I try not to think of GB2 as a reunion movie. I try to think of the GB films as a TV series, with one episode right after the other. That way you don't notice all of the empty space which was really between the two films. It just seems like one big adventure after another.

Oh, yeah, smile I like GB2 more.

I have tpo say Ghostbusters one. I can sit and wathc that movie for hours on end over and over and over and I'll never get bored. I thought that the whole story in Ghostbusters was better and in number two there was just something missing that i couldn't quite explain. Plus the whole ending with Vigo sucked. I mean he preaches all that crap through the movie but when the time comes he's defeated really quickly. I was just let down.

Oh and sorry to get off the point but how do you post new questions? I have been replying to them but can't find how to post my own.

GB, it was new, it explained how the business worked, it was just overall a more enjoyable movie. The first movies are usually better than its sequals.

In terms of quality you've gotta go with the original. However, GB2 has it's moments where it really shines.

I'm 18 and I can't remember the first time I saw the original GB. Even though it was darker than the second one, I loved it. You really can't compare the two in terms of originality and character development.

I, like Weezer, was 2 when GB2 came out, but I honestly can't pick a favorite anymore. I mean, if someone had a gun to my head, I'd probably say GB2, but since that's not the case I'll remain impartial. tongue

I love both GB Movies equally. Although, I thought they should have stuck with the original logo in GB II. I liked the original logo better. The original logo makes more sense when you look at it, and you think "Ghostbusters", b/c it's a no-Ghost logo. The GB II logo, well, it was just confusing. A ghost giving the "Peace" sign, as the logo for a company that eliminates them? RIIIIIIIGHT... wink

They don’t just call them The Real Ghostbusters for no reason! Take a look at Take Two, Citizen Ghost, The Ghostbusters Omnibus Timeline, THE GHOSTBUSTERS FACT LIST, and RGB Truly Canon with the Movies?, and you’ll see why!

Ya know what they should have done...kept the hand with the same two fingers up, but have the hand so its palm is facing inward. That way instead of the peace sign, it would be...shall we say...something else. wink
