Sorry Vego, the map isn't easily found if you go looking at PC. Better, for now, to just use the link below (in my sig).

The plan was to post a news item on the map at PC when I get all the conventions in place, but that's taking longer than I thought. And on that note...

...I've now successfully moved offices at work, but my email is down. So Rosh, et al, if you emailed me any conventions to enter, I won't get them for at worst another couple of days. You could, if you have them, post them here and I'll transfer them over and then erase the posts when I'm done (just to keep the thread neat).

Also, I will be attending ComicCon this year in San Diego. I won't have the time to organize anything for the event (this thread and the map to help organize convention going Ghostheads represents the last of my petty cash - figuratively speaking), but I look forward to running into any other fans who might be attending.

Ok, if you're going to have a Ghostbusters convention there's only one place to hold it NYC. We could rent out an old building conplex and each person could put in a little money to allow us to be there. Then we could go and see the sites during a part of the day, drive around in vans. The first few meetings wouldn't have very many people. But as popularity increased then you could really start getting kicking. A house could be bought and made to look like the old firehouse, people instead of riding around in vans could ride around in Ecto 1s (I've always wanted to see one of those rushing down the street in NYC) and people could bring their props and old comics, action figures etc. and trade them and purchase new ones inside the firehouse. Sure money is an issue as well as rights, but this thing could really take off. There could be guest speakers, people from the original cast that could come and speak on Ghostbusters behalf. Such a movement as this could encourage thoughts from Columbia. smile Just a thought, just an idea.

The more immeadiate question is - if there were a sci-fi convention in your area, would you go as a GB representative?

How bout this? What If we all pitched in 10 dollars and sent it to the moderators of this site? 20 people, 200 bucks.. that would be enough to rent a small place im sure. Of course im not sure the moderators are down for that, but who knows? Plus im sure since we live all over it would be hard to all get together, but there are some of us that would make the drive. Just an idea.

In the UK? Hmm, maybe Birmingham, but we wouldn't be able to afford the NEC methinks.

I can't speak for the other mods, but I don't have to time to organize a convention. I don't even have the time to organize a gathering at another convention. The main message to this thread is that suggesting a full convention is great, but if you're not prepared to take on the massive workload yourself, don't be surprised when no one else does.

It's up to the fans to makes something happen - be it a full convention (15% chance of happening this year, maybe 25% next year, thus far), a gathering at some other convention (70%), or just going solo or with friends to represent at some other convention (90%).

I'd like to ask another question (or two);

Have you ever been to a convention (if so, what size)?

Did you have to travel to that convention (meaning, was it far enough away that you had to figure out transportation and a place to stay for the weekend)?

I've been to many toy conventions and plan on going to a few sci-fi conventions myself. Yes they have all been within driving distance of my home no more than 2 or 3 hours.

If anyone would be interested and Im talking within Virginia, Tenn., SC, Georgia and NC Ghost heads. the Charlotte Hornets training center is renatable and also the Hickory Metro Convention center as well as the Metro Center are available for rent.

Any luck culling through those convention listings? If not, don't worry, I won't hold you to it. I'll see if I can finish the map by the beginning of next week.

Excellent. I noticed ads for the upcoming Wizard Worlds cons in Chicago and Philadelphia, so I added them.

I would be interested in making a convention website.
A. to suggest ideas
B. to list conventions taking place
C. To sign up as a possible participant
D. to have polls regarding options for a convention/addon to a scifi convention
But I dont think Ill really have the time until I graduate HS this June.

Or you could just do all that in this thread...

I have been to many differn't cons/gatherings

LiSt:
The Gathering Of Juggalos - Peoria Ilinoise
Otakon (x4) Baltimore Md.
Katsukon - Virginia

and many horror conventions. I have never seen anyone rep Ghostbusters at any of them besides me but keep in mind a lot of pople dont cosplay and most people dont have as many GB shirts as I do sinnce I was actualy alive when they were released and my parenst bought me all sizes so when I was older I could still wear them. I am part of an anime club and we watch RGB on a regular basis sinnce its considered to be a lil anime, at least the 1st season anyway. A lot of people do however gimme props for the shirts...
