D_Osborn yes u r an idiot,as I said before it was a Miller Meteor ambulance,the only thing that looked remotely like a Caddy was the fins,nothing else.Therefore it remains a Miller Meteor ambulance,not a Caddy.

Lets settle this. The car was a 1959 Miller Meteor Combination Endloading Cadillac.

no......the front end of ecto 1/1a doesn't look like a caddy....no, the dash doesn't look like a caddy...WHO WOULD THINK THE ECTOS ARE BASED ON CADDY'S?!?!?!?! i guess the same people who would say the bttf time machine is a delorean, or k.i.t.t. is a trans-am. but NO!!!! k.i.t.t. was built by the foundation for law and government, not pontiac!!!

you guys are fighting over what the ecto-1 was...IT WAS THE ECTO-1, it was damn modified that it wans anything anymore, do you see anything with that cool stuff on top? no, do YOU see a caddy, with a dash board that burns parking tickets? DIDNT THINK SO!! JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!!AND STOP CALLING EACH OTHER NAMES!!!

People People People. I've always wanted to say that. Anyway, I'd pick a combination of the two. I like the amount of stuff on the top of Ecto-1 and the logo, but i like the black and yellow stripe from Ecto-1A. Now, to d_osborn: The BTTF Time Machine was a DeLorean. Also, The Ecto-1 did look like a caddy from the front a little. Also, call me crazy, there might actually be people out there who look at the outside of the car and not every little detail inside and out of the car and do not compare everything.

At least in this thread I'm surprised no one has brought up the RGB Ecto 1. Granted it is the MM Combo that was in Ghostbusters, but the RGB Ecto had some sweeet features that weren't in either films. Or at least that we knew about...
Such as the proton cannon (is that what's it called?) on the roof and the traps that could "extend" from the sides of the car. Most helpful when the GBs were chasing down the "real nasty ones!" :p
Of course Ray did use the Ecto 3, that little tricyle that was stored away on the passeneger side of Ecto 1. I didn't really understand that, however that was sorta cool. I wish I could stash my bicycle in my Corolla.

Not to get too far off topic, but just to clarify:
The Front sheet metal of the Ecto-1/1a is Standard Cadillac from 1959. Everything up front (From the cowl Forward) is interchangable with ANY 1959 Cadillac. The Dashboards are Identical, the Trim on the car is the same, Lights are the same, etc, etc. I would be more than happy to take a photo of my Ecto-1a Replica side by Side with my 1959 Cadillac Limo if folks would like to see that they are indeed the same..
Also, All 4 of My cars are titled as 1959 Cadillac's. Generally you dont title your car based on the coachbuilder as the DMV folks dont have any clue what a "Miller-Meteor" is. You title it based on the chassis it was built on. So the Ecto *was* a 1959 Cadillac. (Ask the Rolls Royce guys about coachbuilding and titling.. Alot of the RR bodys were built by Hooper and Mulliner, yet the finished cars are all titled as Rolls Royces) When folks purchased these coaches new, they didnt go down to purchase a "Miller-Meteor" they went down to purchase a Cadillac, or a Pontiac, or a Buick at their Miller Meteor dealership. The chassis that is shipped to the coachbuilders is tagged with ID Numbers and a Manufacturers data plate. Part of the prestige of the finished coachbuilt car was that it WAS a Cadillac. It was all about Image and standing in the community. A Cadillac Ambulance was thought of as more upscale and "better quality" than a Pontiac Ambulance or a Buick Ambulance.
Bottom line, the Ecto is a 1959 Cadillac with Coachwork by Miller Meteor. Trust me, I have 3 Miller Meteors and a Fleetwood 75. I KNOW what I'm talking about.

YES! someone finally agrees with me! thank you ecto1a! dude shouldn't be callin people who think the ectos are 59 caddy's, that's just plain mean! no ghosthead is an idiot!

Hey, I don't know what your problems are with the ecto 1a, I'm a real parnormal investigator in SE Michigan, and on our vehicle we have to have rainbow lights. According to some state laws like ours, unless you are voulnteer rescue personel, you can't have red or blue lights.
