Why do most seem to hate EGB?

First of all, no offese to anybody, and please, don't get angry at me.    I DESPISE AND LOATHE EGB WITH ALL MY BEING! Well, sort of.
Here's why:
1.) Everything!
2.) The RGB's (Peter, Ray, & Winston) are only on 2 episodes, and on those 2 episodes they look like 80-year-old men, and Ray is wearing a jumpsuit we've never seen before! And Dave Coulier is still doing Peter's voice!
3.) The RGB's that were kept look horrible! Egon looks like an 80-year-old man, and has a crappy looking jumpsuit! Slimer looks horrible! Janine just isn't the same as that first season RGB Janine. And where's the Ghostbusters' recurring Accountant/Lawyer, Louis Tully?
4.) The new equipment is illogical and EXTREMELY crappy! It looks like the show's artists were in a rush to make it, and made it from stuff someone would find in a sewer!
4.) The New Characters are a bunch of punks that aren't parapsychologists, and have absoulotely no Ghostbusting experiance whatsoever (Well, they could have been fully trained eventually, but that never got around to happening)! Not to mention it's more of this Politically Correct nonsense! A Latino guy, a nerdy gothic chick, and a dude in a Wheel-Chair? Who calls that extreme!?
5.) And last, but definately not least it's not Anime.

I really enjoyed EGB. It had cool looking animation, decent stories, and cool ghosts. The characters were a little too punky for me, but hey hey what can i do? I like it, everything about it except for the way the characters were at times.

I didn't see enough episodes to form a fair opinion. One basic problem struck me right away though:
Proton packs have a lot of kick to them. The guns the EGBs used were (I believe) supposed to be a lot more powerful, so wouldn't...
Teen in wheelchair + Proton gun = teen and wheelchair suddenly rolling backwards at an alarming rate? Even if the brakes on the chair were set I still think there would be enough force to cause the chair to tip backwards or over if the character wasn't positioned very well or if he had to adjust his aim rather suddenly.

There are so many things that sucked about EGB, it's hard to choose a starting point, so I'll just go with the big one.
The new cast, pc to a fault, and totally lame.
Goth Chick: Didn't even wear the proper uniform.
Black guy: token, yawn.
Latino guy: was annoying, sounded stupid.
Guy in Wheelchair: Now, if a job requires a lot of running around, up stairs, crawling into tight spaces, lifting things, you think the organization is going to put a guy in a wheelchair anywhere besides behind a desk? When was the last time you saw firefighter on the scene in a wheelchair? Same thing with this loser character. I vomit with .. something.
And to top it all of the show had the word Extreme in its title, totally indicitive of lameness, everyone should have known better.
It was a overly politically correct, castrated piece of crap. Ghostbusters according to a focus group of twits.

People just didn't like EGB because it is different from RGB. I thought it was a cool NEW addition to Ghostbusters.

Ok, now I kinda like both RGB and EGB, but I can also see things from both angles. So here goes.
EGB Good points:
Slightly darker, I felt that occasionaly RGB bordered on being ridiculously kiddie (Buster The Ghost anyone?)
Less equipment, I hated it in RGB whne all of a sudden we had the Ecto-3 or a new gun etc... The EGBs kept strictly with the packs (even though they were different) traps, PKE-Meter, Ecto-1. (alright that damn Ghost radar was in it.)
It actually had a good starting plot, even though it may have been good to take the series in another direction.
Ghosts really seemed evil.
Animation: I liked the style, even though the artists were often lazy, If you ask me Egon looked VERY cool! And Slimer did look more like a ghost.
The government plots, they used the FBI twice, if there had been another series I could have seen the final ep with the government and GBs working together.
EGB Bad Points:
They no longer seemed like a business, not once did I see them hassle anyone for their pay.
There was absolutely NO need for the new equipment. Aparently they wernt powerful enough, but then Janine uses it in a later ep and its fine.
They were meant to be heroes. This is where the trap cam in I think, The idea of having to slowly roll out the trap gets rid of that superfast action hero feel. But still the RGBs were NOT heroes, they were Scientists god damn it! (Even though RGB had Egon doing some G.I. Joe moments, which was kinda stupid)
The characters, Now the idea of teenage ghostbusters is not a problem to me. But they seemed wrong, they had no technical know how, except for Kylie. They were very much of a shoot first ask questions later. Maybe if they had graduated and had a decent paranormal knowledge. Hell Eduardo doesnt even take the stuff seriously. Egon should not have been made to be so old, ok he was 39 in the show, and yet he acted like he was 59. Janine never bitched, which was part of the beauty of her.
Some of the plots were rehashes.
They didnt use the history of RGB
There was less science involved.
You couldnt get to know the characters, in RGB they were 4 ppl trying to make a living, Scientists in a new area of work. Now thats just gone.

AH I think EGB was a very crappy cartoon. ALl because of the weaponry and caracther and story line were to diffrent from what ghostbusters is about. There packs needed to have clips because supposably the old packs were useless. The animation was very block lik no smoth lines just blocks. In other words no offense to those who like it but i thought it was a digrace to the Gb franchise!

i thought slimer was crap, the theme was dull and not catchy, the characters were students and janine hasn't aged but she has changed! STRANGE...
other than that it can be a good cartoon!

I think EGB attempted to show the darker side of life...
It made the world look less perfect and jolly than it did in RGB and you have to admit, more realistic. I think the theme, animation, plot and characterisations reflect this!
Hell, if Vigo had a good time in GB2, he'd have a field day in EGB!

In the end it is a good show IF you don't keep comparing it to the REAL Ghostbusters.

1. Horribly depressing music(there were NO lively tunes whatsover) that one annoying funeral sounding song with French horns) I know EGB was a darker show though.
2. Boring characters. Whereas normally, you'd sympathize with someone in an episode of RGB, in EGB there was no reason to get behind any of the characters. They were all incredibly dull all the time. There was no reason to care about any of these new people. Terribly weak. Hardly any personality or character development. I tried to get to know them but it didn't happen.
3. We were forced to watch our heroes(the RGB) character characters age and were pathetically portrayed as old farts whereas Scooby Doo and the gang continue to solve mysteries in the prime of their lives.
4. Many stories were recycled. If not from RGB, then other similar things.
5. Janine and Egon were REALLY pathetic. No one was ever having fun or enjoying themselves. They were lifeless zombies. They were extremely boring. RGB classic dialogue. There are ZERO memorable lines from EGB with the exception of "Ectoman got a clown in the can" which was pretty dumb anyway.
6. It really was CRAP to see Ray in Egon's suit. That was terrible. Were they afraid kids would confuse Garrett and Ray?
7. Like Doc said, half of them didn't care enough to wear a jumpsuit. Granted the RGB were multicolored, they at least all had the same outfit and were on the same page.
I don't hate it quite that much, well you get the point  then again I grew up with RGB so I'm biased 
The revival is the last hope. Otherwise EGB was pretty much the nail in the coffin for the franchise. They likely released it to test the waters and try to spark interest for a possible third movie...FLOP! and the rest is history.

*Breaks into tears* I just can't believe how awful that show was. When I first heard about it, and saw it, I felt like my tender heart was ripped out of my chest and stomped by some big corporate snob wearing cleetz, who didn't care a thing about the Ghostbusters, and just wanted make money with a cheap cheezy crap cartoon and tiny action figures that easily broke. They pretty much (temporarily) killed my favorite franchise of all time. But now I have hope that all of that will change, because "It's" coming...
