why do some people hate GB2?

I dislike the recycling but think it was a good movie overall and was a better sequal than most movies get.

I absolutely LOVED GB2...I think it's pretty funny. The reason i liked it so much is mainly because of the music in the movie, its brilliant. Im not talking about the score...the Bobby Brown, Run-DMC, DEF themes..class. If i had to sit down with somebody and watch a GB movie..i would watch GB2 with them. I think it just makes people feel good about themselves, thats why they used the Statue of Liberty, to get peoples spirits up. Whatever anyone sez, GB2 is still a great film.

I know a lot of you think I've lost my mind here, but I'm having too much fun discussing these topics! 
GB2 gave me a chance to see the same ol' crowd five years after I became the fan I am...a chance to prove my loyalty to the movie and its legacy...and most importantly-to me, that is-it was the perfect outlet to reveal my...infatuation! 
GB2 was also a chance to get a new generation of fans to discover both movies. Those who saw GB2 before the first would be anxious to see the first!

The one thing that I noticed about GB2, it was very RGBish, Slimer being friendly, The Ecto more colourful, Louis trying to be a GB and of course Janine's hair.

In my opinion GB 2 was the best one. I just liked the whole new feeling of it. New Ecto-1A, the new logo, the new flight suits, the new music. And I absolutly loved the Statue of Liberty part, I thought it was hillarious and unigue. Only in a GB movie can you see Statue of Liberty walk the streets of Manhatten. GB 2 was a perfect example to how a sequel should be. And I loved it.

I disliked it because
1) Slimer looked so bad
2) Poor quality everything.. (laser special effects sucked compared to the first)
3) The way over-done car
4) The lack of enthusiasm (hard to explain, when the statue is walking down the street there is like 20 people cheering, and in the firt there is lik ehundreds when stay puft comes)
5) Slmie blowers

Who was cheering when Staypuft came? Anyway, I still love GB2 no matter what people thought of it.

I luv Ghostbusters 2. I like it more than the first one.
The only thing I don't like about it is that Vigo was too easy to get rid of.

It could just be the normal stigma against sequels... didn't live up the the original, (mostly because it's not original, it's a sequel), rehash, blah blah.
OR the people who hate it could be Egon/Janine shippers. They don't take prisoners. I've seen 'em get really nasty.
Okay, I admit I am one such shipper, but I haven't seen GBII yet.

I don't hate GB2, I just think there was more that should've and could've been done. It was good, not great.

wow, old thread.
after seeing what was probably, in my mind, one of the BEST sequels ever made, X2, i do belive GB2 could have been much better. still, though, it is and ALWAYS will be one of my favorite movies.

I really dont know. People are just SLOW I guess. GB2 was a perfect example to how a sequel should be. Original cast, but spiced up a bit. And the thing about the theme song. Umm, Hello, the original theme was in the beginning and END! Run DMC just did a remix, which was iminent as it was almost 1990. GB2 was great and in my opinion, it was better than the first.

i loved gb2 more then gb1
do to the fact that it was more about them exploring the ghosts point of view
gb1 was more of a comedy and not much action like gb2
Gb1 started it all but gb2 made it bigger then we ever imagine
