It would be more funny if Ray and Venkman came out laughing with two jugs of beer. The ghosts had got them drunk.

I agree with Egon Spengler. That scene was total crap! I remember seeing that for the first time when I was litte and not understanding why Ray was running away. I still can't believe they involved that part in the movie! The GB's saved the world twice! They can handle a few more ghosts!

Wow! 
Okay ghostheads. I know it was just a cameo. I only saw the film at a sneak screening years ago when I was visting a friend the works at Universal.
Don't get me wrong, I love GB, but it was just a cameo. And if you watch the sceen closely, Ray's thrower is broken when he comes out of the house. As much as I would love to see a GB3, I hate to say it, but the only way GB will be alive and well for all of us will be guest spots in movies and TV shows.

I like Teeth's idea, Ray & Peter could have staggered out laughing with pints, turned and shouted a slurred "see ya guys!" to the house, and then look at the blond gal and say sarcastically "Who ya gonna call? Some one else! Hah!"

Alright here we go. Reasons for Dr. Raymond Stantz's failure to bust Casper and the Ghostly Trio:
1.) It's not Ghostbusters II 1/2, it's Casper. The writers wanted a short parody of the Ghostbusters with a Cameo by Dan Aykroyd/Ray.
2.) He went on that bust alone. Every Ghosthead knows that at takes at least two or more Ghostbusters to bust a ghost. It takes one or more to lasso the ghost(s) with the neutronas and one to work the Ghost Trap.
3.) If you look closely, you'll notice that the tip of his Neutrona Wand was broken off, and hanging by cord.
4.) He didn't have a Ghost Trap, so how could he have entrapped them? He didn't have his Ecto-Goggles either, but he probably wouldn't have needed them.
*Brakes into tears*    I still can't believe it! After all the entities more powerful than the Ghostly Trio, that they've encountered over the years, they couldn't even bust them! WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?...

I did love to see Dr. Raymond Stantz one more time. Don't know about the pack, too distracted by the moustache perhaps. It was kinda fun, remember the Trio were smart ghosts that excelled in torturing the experts(at least that was the point of that scene)
Just occured to me, anyone got the comics adaptation of that movie? If he's in, he'd be about the only non-RGB ghostbuster in a comic yet(but that's likely to change now...)
No...? Thought so.

Most of you guys are reading way too much into this. Ray couldn't bust the ghosts cause it was just a gag, a movie about ghosts, they probably thought it would be funny to throw in a ghostbusters gag and I liked it. The movie was about casper and the other ghosts not the ghostbusters, it was funny so just leave it alone, and a friend and I looked closley at it and it appears that he as the original gb equipment.

Man....They were try to establish how bad ass the trio were, and used Ray to say, even a Ghostbuster couldn't stop these ghost, it was also a comedy made for older casper fans as well so theres the reason Ray does that. Dan knew what he was doing its not a GB movie so it doesn't hurt anything lol.

Dark Lotus has a point. In the original comics, the Trio is bad-ass... (GOD, that felt pathetic!) or rather, kind of bad-ass. Spooky, the ghost with the derby hat and bulbous nose, is bad-ass. And I do admit, seeing Ray run out of the mansion, DEFEATED by three PUNKS, was kinda lame. But you have to admit, it did pave the way for EGB and opened up GB to a new generation of fans.

By the way, does anyone think that Casper is the ghost of Richie Rich? And did anyone else read Harvey Comics when they were little?

If Ray caught Casper's uncles at the beginning, there'd be no movie. It's like Giligan's Island. If the Professor had built a boat, there'd be no show.
