Cruel Ratings

Has anyone here noticed that people tend to think that a prop can only be a 10 or a 1 or something like that? People seem to decide that If a prop has a noticable error, it's a 1, 2, or 3. Otherwise its a 10. Does that seem right?

Yes, that is why I do not like the rating system. I don't even think people who haven't submitted a prop be able to rate them.

Just check out my pack, albeit unfinished, it is one of the best packs on the site. (I just added a couple more pictures yesterday, (still pending) which show how great it is. You can see them already up at my site, here.)

I don't beleive that people who haven't built props shouldn't be able to rate, but I do think that they shouldn't be able to say things as if they had.

No not to let everyone not vote, I guess that wouldn't be right. But, I just don't like seeing, “You call that a proton pack?”, when obviosuly they have never seen a Proton Pack.

have you noticed the guys that rate the most have no props, no life , and are about 12 to 13 years old?
Man i have ghostbusters collectables older than some of these guys.
If you don't have nothing good to say, don't say it.
Its all good. smile

Man! That's ridiculous! (spelling?) I think I know that were talking about one person inpaticular though… I noticed that ‘this person’ has done NO props himself.

yeah some people are just being stupid and giving 1's for no reason even if its really good. And of course they haven't done any props at all. It's like ok “lets see you do better” |

I'll be the first to admit my pack has more than one inaccuracy, but I remember when Dr. Stantz and I did a GB Event in Pasadena a few years back. People were coming up to me and asking if I had purchased my pack from Sony. “You couldn't have built that, it looks too real!” And that is what it's all about.

I don't think many people recognize the dichotomy between a prop and a REPLICA prop.

I've never posted any pics of my proton pack because I don't care what people say about it. I love my pack and I don't give a shit if it meets the “standards” of overzealous prop nerds.

This is also one reason why I never put up a rating system on my site. I believe that if someone built a pack, it is not worthy of getting bad ratings. If I think a pack is bad, I just don't rate it. One thing that I think is great about my site is you have the ability to comment on props, and explain what you like, or how to improve. It is like a message board about your prop.
