I think they could. why i think? let me explain myself:

Superman, as we know, has 2 volnerabilities: Kryptonite, and Red Solar Energy.

The Ghostbusters equipemnt can be altered to do many tasks. fighting ghosts, mainly. but they also have come across other things as well: welding metal, battering ram, crime fighting, and fighting vampires.

Vampires cannot stand sunlight. it burns them, and destroys them. all the reason the Ghostbusters simulated sunlight to destroy them.

everyone has a different Biorythem and brain wavelength. the proton packs have also been altered to react of these unique waves at one time.

Kryptonite is said to be a Nuclear material, that has a much higher atomic weight than any other element on the periodic chart. but since this is true, and the proton packs run on plutonium, it can not be achived…

but where im i going with this? well, this is another way. here, it beings to all come together.

all the Ghostbusters have to do, is alter the Proton packs to give off a red solar wave, while at the same time, changing the beam to Superman's particular brainwave and bio pattern, and the Man of Steel turns into putty.

now, im not saying the Ghostbusters would do it, but they could if they wanted to.

just a little insight on how much i know about comic book superheros and the boys in gray.

Well I think it would depend on a few different things. But it would be a toss up in the end.

thats true Jay, but sometimes Sups gets a little cocky, and may think that the beams wont do anything. so he might just stand there, and let teh boys take a shot.

And how, exactly, would the Ghostbusters find out Superman's brainwave and bio pattern? I've never heard of the PKE being able to do that kind of thing…

Once that was overcome, then yeah, they'd beat 'im.
