Well I actually believed Dan when he said Columbia for a time was at fault. Thats why he left his production office there because they were not willing to spend the $120 million he projected it would cost. However Columbia probably changed their minds but Murray reconsidered the deal.

yes…. bill did agree at one point to allow the film to be made, and to even work on it a little. at that time, sony read a copy of what had been written by aykroyd and ramis, and deemed it too expensive. i guess things have changed now, in more ways that one.

guys and gals… enjoy the films out there.

Danny needs several foils to work off of me thinks; he's always been kind of the uber ornate persuasion when left to his own screenwriting devices. It's only my stupid opinion, but I don't think he's ever completely recovered after what happened with the Blues Brothers sequel - not necessarily in a strict professional sense either. (How the film opens is a lot truer to Dan himself than people realize.)

There seems to be tons of Murray bashing around here too, on this board especially. It’s been said before, more isn’t definitely better and despite what a lot of you have been saying - I think Murray’s career is entering its golden age with a lot of class and dignity. Sometimes you do a flick for money – hey, that’s Hollywood. Sometimes you do a flick as a favour for a friend here and there. I think Bill’s been remarkably choosey and in that has shown a lot of class. Yeah, he did a bit in Osmosis Jones and Charlie’s Angels. He’s also done Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and more recently the brilliant Lost in Translation. Being in an ensemble does not equate to being washed up – if anything (in the right film) it means you’ve pretty much made it, you know? It's not about hot dogging it or hogging the screen.

It’s a big problem with comedians. Hell, it happened to Harold Lloyd, happened to the Howard brothers, it happened to countless Second City/SNL alumni (including Murray), and right now it’s in the process of happening to Will Farrell. You can’t drop the act or else you’re crucified. (I also think Lost in Translation is very much in relation to Murray’s career as the opening of BB2000 was to Aykroyd’s.)

(FYI: Chevy Chase really is a dick though. Like seriously, man.)

can i get an AMEN???? i SAID…. CAN I GET AN AMEN?!?!?! thank you…

i haven't seen BB2K in a LONG time, sounds like i need to watch it again to see the part you're talking about. i heard the original script for it was a lot more like the first movie in tone and feel…. i'd love to get my hands on a copy. is it readily available online, or am i going to have to go through the HELLBENT debacle again?

It's been awhile since I've seen it too but I think the scene I was talking about is the one of him waiting outside of the prison in the Blues Brothers suit and stance. The prison guard comes out and tells Elwood that Jake is gone and Elwood just kind of drops his head.

BB2K did poorly at the domestic box office for a number of reasons. The first is that it competed with the #1 grossing movie of all time, Titantic. Even in Feb Titantic still held number one in the weekly and weekend box take. Secondly Aykroyd wrote BB2K to star Jim Belushi, however Universal decided to do the project without him due to time concerns. Overall it was a great movie it was just timing and decisions made by Universal that hurt it.

The only elements in the film that made the least bit of sense were the bits directly derived from the first film.

I read the original BB2K script online, at some Dan fansite….. It's better than the movie.

Sad to see Dan sign GB3 off once again. Maybe one day Bill will lightin up, maybe when Garfield bombs, LOL. But even then I highly doubt it. I guess we just gotta enjoy the first two movies and cartoons. Plus the comics and novels coming out. Maybe we can get RGB on DVD eventually to satisfy our nostalgia. Heck, if the novels and comics do well, maybe Bill will see how much we love GBs. And agree to another movie, but if not. Im not too upset anymore. I will definatly be picking up the novels and comics though. Lets just look on the bright side of things. If we just forget about it for a couple years, maybe something will happen. If not, then its not ment to happen. I'll live.
