D. OSBORNE, thats were ur wrong. An article in one of the 1980's star magazine i believe there was a interview with murray, and he said that he wanted to name GB2, The Last of the Ghostbusters cause he didn.t want anything to do with a third movie. I have lost respect for murray. its plain and simple, as long as murray agrees not to do a movie and never gets all of the money that the third movie would make, (which would be alot) then we will never see a GB3

Yes I am a God
Silver, he is referring to Garfield the Movie…in which Bill Murray does the voice of the main character….Garfield.

Isn't that kinda funny.. First the voice of cartoon Garfield does the voice of cartoon Venkman.. Now real life Venkman does the voice of real life Garfield.

exactly where am i wrong? murray having not ever wanted to do GB3? hmmm… i wasn't wrong there! aykroyd was quoted in an old interview as saying that murray agreed to work a few days on GB3 if things got rolling. doesn't sound to me like he was trying to stop it then…. that was sony's fault at that point for not getting the movie made. they waved the old “budget” flag…. true, he doesn't want it now, but he agreed at one point…

…or was it my statement about murray loving the GB films…. NOPE, not wrong there. i happen to have a bit that aired in 2000 in which murray claims GHOSTBUSTERS is probably the most fun he's ever had on a movie, and it's even one of his favorites.

… and just for the record, it's the march 1989 issue #140 of STARLOG magazine (for the nitpickers, page 32, second column, first paragraph) that the interview you somewhat misquoted is in….

Ok, yea murray sayin that he would do another one if things got rolling..it was prolly a 99 percent chance he wouldnt and i did see the interveiw wit murray talkin about how much fun ghostbusters was, but that was a cover up..he wouldnt come out on an interview sayin that the movie sucked and he didint want to do another.. Its called a cover-up..and the interview with him in the magazine he did talk about not doin another ghostbustrers movie, so yes I WAS rite. and u need to get ur facts straight

that post honestly made me laugh out loud. i really wonder about some people on this site. i don't even think the lame post above deserves a decent reply on my part….

I STILL don't see anything wrong with Bill refusing to do a third movie. Just because he wants a lot of money? Should he be different than any other actor out there? And lets face it…this is not guaranteed to be a huge hit and if I were him I'd be a little worried about my career. Thats just my two cents

yeah… there's no reason to actually get MAD at an actor for not taking a role… most of the people that “hate” murray for not agreeing to GB3 have more than likely never even met him. however, as a fan…. there's no way i can say i wouldn't like to see a third film, and was somewhat disappointed in 99 when aykroyd signed off after even writing a draft of the script. now, i think i would almost like to see a new, non-GB movie with murray, aykroyd, ramis, moranis, etc. more that GB3….

also, i don't think murray has anything to worry about career wise… RUSHMORE, LOST IN TRANSLATION, and the upcoming LIFE AQUATIC (which looks freakin' HILARIOUS) all come to mind. ignore the stinkers like OP. DUMBO DROP and OSMO JONES, i think we have a lot to look forward to from ole bill….

Oh totally! I mean I think he's in his prime right now!!! These last few films have been soo amazing and when you look at his past…well he knows how to pick it you know?
As a GB fan myself I'd love to see a third movie, but I'd be really skeptical about it too, I mean it would have to be REALLY amazing.
A non GB movie with those four oh man that would be great!!! but you know the writing would have to be fantabulous otherwise no Bill LOL

I agree 100% with D.OSBORN. He knows what he's talking about.

Yeah, I think Bill Murray knows Ghostbusters was one of his most successful films considering 1)It was ranked the 28th funniest movie of all time by the American Film Institute, which even beat out Caddyshack and 2)he says he had a great time making both films, so I dont think people need to flood him with mail containing what he already knows.

And as stated earlier, his career is really going strong right now with the constant success of each of his films lately (ie Rushmore, Lost In Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums and so on)

Sorry, I for restating what has pretty much been stated earlier, I just wanted to back up those of you who said it.
