Displaying your props

I have built both a proton pack and a trap and through the years of sitting in my room, they have caught so much dust that its disgusting. What are some of the ways that some of you keep your props displayed nicely?

Hanging your pack on the wall can create a very dramatic look if it's done right. Check out some of the Planet Hollywood pics on this site for ideas.

Try this…

You'll want to mount the pack somewhat high on the wall and tilt it just slightly to one side and mount the gun to the wall next to it. Next, print out some color pics from the movie and mount them onto foam core. Make about 8-10 various sized images and splash them on the wall along the sides of the pack. Use Command Adhesive strips made by 3M to attach the pictures - they won't damage your wallboard.

For added impact, add some overhead lighting if you can. Ikea.com has some pretty cheap lighting fixtures that are easy to set up. Position the lights on the ceiling about 3" away from the wall and focus the lights at the pack. Some fixtures have a dimmer switch which allows you to soften the light.

Good luck!

I plan on putting my Proton Pack on a custom holder, or a guitar like holder. I really like the wood on CPU64 made for his pack here.

Also, dust on a pack makes it look great. See this picture of my proton pack.

BTW, Robo Prop didn't post a link to the site where the Planet Hollywood pictures, GBN doesn't have any PH pictures. But I'm sure he was going to link to the great Ghostbusters Prop Archive.

Whew!

speaking of protonpacks being hung on the wall…
i came home this weekend from watchin summerslam at the wide world of sports in disney orlando, and i came home to find my proton pack on the floor, and my guitar layin by the window.
did it fall? that was my first thought, considering the wall is like cardboard even with anchors, but the proton gun had a peice that had recently fallen off, on the tip. like someone put it there. i was wonderin what kind of idiot would break in my apartment just to wear my proton pack. lol. anyway is was one of my roommate's pals.
my set up is the proton pack is hanging, then the goggles are an outstretched (like you grab up / ). its pretty neat, and holds alot better. no lighting or anything, just hangin very cool like. i recommend getting hooks at home depot( i said best buy and no one corrected me thats a first.lol)that resemble your index and middle finger grabbing somones nose. works like a charm.

I would buy a few “E-Z Ancors” from your hardware store if anyone is indeed planning on hanging a pack on the wall. They are made to hang very heavy objects on drywall and would easily accomodate a 35+ lb. “work of art”. They're cheap too.
