Does your trap really have to open?

Judging by the number of times I have been told to keep my trap shut, I'd say “no.”

i just noticed this. in the 1st movie the gb's had to step on the trap to open it. then step on it again to send the proton suction thing out from the trap that sucks the ghost in.In the second movie one stomp did it all.in conclusion in the if it was the 1st movie yes you would.in the second movie it would seem like…no.smile

That is very true…..

But at the same time the Ghostbusters didnt make any modifications to their equipment in the 5 years between both movies because they were banned from using the equipment. See what I'm getting at?

creed's right. In GB2, if you watch the courtroom scene closely, you'd notice that when Egon opens the trap, he keeps his foot on the pedal and when he takes it off it closes. But in the park scene with the ghost jogger, Peter just hits the pedal once, takes his foot off and it does all the work. So it seems that, if it wasn't added in later, the doors opened on some sort of cycle. Kinda like a capacitor providing the charge to open it, then it stays open while the capacitor charges to power the close. But that's just an idea..

Glycerine not to get your nickers in a twist, but if you watch the park scene, with the ghoist jugger, you will relize that they are using a different flat trap. I thought the same thing, they dug a hole and put a trap there, but it's just a new trap.

Nethervoid, what are you talking about… you can clearly see the ground around the base of the trap. If they had one flat trap, why not use it everytime. It would make more sense. They didn't use a special trap, it was just buried.

Back to the topic at hand… I think that if you want to make a really nice trap, and plan on using it for stuff, like making movies (I did) or doing cool public appearances, it should MOST DEFINITELY open. The cable used was a coaxial cable I beleive, which can carry electrical current… so you can disconnect it and what not. I have lots of ideas how to do it, and since I prefer GB1 more than GB2, I'd do it the GB1 way. It's easier anywho to do it that way. If anyone wants ideas in particular on some ways to do it, send me an email.
