Don't look directly into the trap?

I agree (and have always thought so) with the theory of the light damaging your eyes, like welding light or a solar eclipse. And I think the reason why egon said he looked at the trap was maybe a mild joke over the fact that people do things like that just because someone tells you not to.

If you watch GB1, it seems as though opening the trap is not as bright as closing the trap.
After Egon says he looked at the trap, Ray reiterates that they shouldn't look as he closes it. certainly the effect is brighter during the second stage.

Honestly, i reckon the ‘don’t look at the trap' thing is there because it's funny for Egon to then look directly into the trap, nothing more. I shouldn't think you'll get a better sciencey answer than ‘it’s really bright' though, really.

Do you think at this point the trap had even been used in an experiment yet? In my opinion, I think that they didn't know what to expect from their equipment, as they look bewildered after they blast the hell out of the maid's cart. I think that they didn't know what would happen once they used the trap, hence nothing happening to Egon when he looked into it. In theory, those glasses probably would've been the equivilent of magnifying glasses and turned Egon's peepers into raisens.

Prior to the Sedgwick bust, nothing had actually been field-tested (that's the implication anyway). The trap theory that always made the most sense to be was light intensity combined with the containment field itself (assuming it's a laser grid same as the large containment unit).

Yeah if you all remember when Ray closed the trap everyone looked away because of how bright it was.

So yeah I'd say that the light the trap emits opening and closing can be blinding in some way from long exposure….like when you look at the sun.

I seem to remember a similiar conversation about the trap a while back.

I made a post in the past. I edited it, it didn't sound right the way it was… I only hope I didn't made everything more worst.

Would it be better to make the trap more dangerous, like it could trap the soul of a living being?

Alright, I get it already, it has been talked in the past, but in all fairness your post NewRecruit was in 2006. I wasn't even here back then.

I get it everyone. I repeated something that was already talked about.

Hey, don't be negative; I only answered to a question. Nothing was said between the lines. Ghostbusters is full of interesting subjects and it's normal to talk about it.

I am not being negative. Why do people always say this? Do I bleed negativity or something? I am just tired of people shoving down my throat “It has been discussed before.”

This happens a lot in most forums I go to. When new members come, they get hated upon because “it has been discussed before.”

I know it gets annoying when people ask the same questions over and over, but I think it is understandable if the question….in question….is a topic that hasn't been discussed in a while. Now if it was asked and then 5 minutes later someone else asks the same question in a different thread, then I understand.

Also NewRecruit I am not stupid and what you post just now insulted me a little bit. I am not a child and it sounds like you are talking down to me in that way. “Ghostbusters is full of interesting subjects and it's normal to talk about it.” Yeah no kidding, it is a Ghostbusters forum. It would be ridiculous of me if I started talking about things that has nothing to do with Ghostbusters like….Bass Masters. It's a fishing show. (See even I have a sense of humor )
