It's always been the Collector's Series.
Here's what was listed two years ago and this is a new production run. They're the same disc. I'm thinking the same as has been said before - it's just a new pressing of the same disc and Special Edition refers to the Region 2 disc.

So there is no difference?

It would had been nice if the special edition included the music video for “Ghostbusters”.

Then again any special features would have been great for GB II - such a class movie, yet nothing… very dissapointing.

Oh well.. on with Ghostbusters

i always thought there was no difference. has there been a collector's or special edition of GB2? I've only seen a collector's/special edition for GB1

The tagline for the Ghostbusters 2 VHS and DVD… “Be Ready to Believe Us”

and you think Sony'd make a decent sequel…. sheesh.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the back art for the slip cover of the DVD is from the movie “The Siege”. The GB2 logos were cheesily added to the first movie's promo photos of some of the guys in costume. Boy does that look cheesy. The Statue of Liberty on the back cover is especially cheesy though.
