To those who've built an Ecto, do you risk taking it at high speeds ?

I always wondered if the top would be lost to the wind

talk ot TheEcto1a or ECTOI@aol.com …they both have the 59's. and from what ive been told ambulances of that era do not perfom well at high speeds because of the undercarrige design mixed with the 3 tons of weight, wide steering and basic size of the vehical. basically high speeds arent a good thing with those beauties.
im gone.

Mine's a smooth ride at 65MPH I never took it any higher than that. Nor will I when she's going again.

I agree here, a car of that size mixed with all of the equipment on top going at or above 70 MPH is a wee bit much for a car that only weighs 10,000 lbs.

Judging by the way the car tilts while taking a turn in the first movie….it seems like it wouldnt handle too well. Especially with all those gizmos on top..

While we're on the subject…
In gb1….have you guys noticed that when the ecto is taking that sharp turn during the montage…..the left headlight just goes out…

Hah, Ray wasnt wearing his seatbelt again! You know those guys, drinking beer and eating chinese before going out on the job, then getting slung around the car pulling wires and flipping switches *sigh*.
