Ecto Containment Unit in the game

Interesting… in the one screenshot (maybe it was for the Wii) I could've sworn it looked just like it did in the movies.

You did, bearing in mind that along with the depictions of the characters and locations, the Containment Unit in the Redfly build of the game wouldn't neccesarily look the same as the Terminal Reality build.

Well this is pretty easy to figure out. This is from the article that accompanies that screenshot.

…Slimer is looking longingly into the containment field where all the other busted ghosts are chilling. He must be saying hi to some friends. You give slimer a quick blast from your proton pack, but this only serves to release one of the imprisoned ghosts.

Also at the very beginning of the game when Ray is greeting the rookie, he has a pack on but Egon doesn't. So this screenshot takes place right after Ray announces that Slimer escaped.
That is definitely the new containment unit. Also apparently the Wii designers did decide to stick with the old '84 version.

In some way, I believe that containment unit is going to be breached or disabled. Maybe not completly destroyed, that happend in the first movie, but something wrong may happen to the ECU. It could help to explain the re-occurance of old ghosts (slimer, gozer, vigo, and others)…

And yes I know gozer, slimer, and vigo were not trapped in the movies.

Yeah, the Wii version seems to use the old red containment unit as shown in a screenshot where Ray and Egon are talking.

Here it looks like they sorta upgraded the containment unit.

There are many signs that this is indeed the containment unit in the basement.

1. It has a trap slot. I have seen Elevator generators while working as a bell hop once and it doesn't look like that.

2. Egon is not wearing a proton pack. Which indicates that he hasn't put his on yet which mean he is at the firehouse.

3. Apparently, as said in an IGN article, Slimer releases some of the ghost from the containment unit and inhabit the Sedgewick…I think it said.

Well either way i think it looks awesome. And it has been a while so maybe it blew up again causing them to build a bigger one. and a generator in case some dickless person tries to shut it down again lol.

That's assuming the old red one was rebuilt and used during the events for GBII. I prefer to think this new one has been in use since '89 when business started back up again.

Someone else pointed out the trap slot as well.

It's definitely the new ECU. Here is a tour of the entire firehouse: http://www.youtube.com/user/ProtonGame#uploads/0/I3IaNvMj9Es

What I'm wondering is: What is that washing machine looking thing to the right?
