How come Stantz is the only ghostbuster that uses these?

Wasn't Egon wearing them in the montage when he comes out a door with a trap?

Each character has their preference of stuff. Egon PKE. Ray goggles and trap. Venkman pantlegs untucked. Winston, well he's just there.

Actually in the montage you see both Egon and Peter wearing them. He just gets associated with them more because he has more screen time with them.

During the song, after the Sedgewick bust, we can see Peter wearing the googles while he's running with the others.

Yeah, Egon was wearing them in the montage.

I guess what got me thinking about it was that in the game, Egon uses the PKE, but no Ecto-goggles, but Ray and the rookie use both. I suppose Egon is so brilliant he doesn't need to “see” the ecto-plasm trail…he knows it's there.

To be fair, any images we've seen of the guys using anything is really moot, as more than half the time the images are using a character in first person, rather than the Rookie, so its possible they just replaced the skin of the main character for the screen shot.

Its not easy to say that Egon “never” uses the goggles in the game, as its entirely possible he will.

As for the movies, as its been said, Ray is associated with them more cuz he has the most screen time with them, but you clearly see Pete and Egon wearing them in the GB1 montage.

There are many instances in the cartoon of all of the guys using them at some point, at one point, all four of them wearing them.

In the movie, probably the same reason Ray carries the trap most of the time. He's a hardware and Ghostbusters equipment nut. He's a big kid and they are his toys :-)

I remember Ivan Reitman talking about this in the movie commentary.

He says that the reason why Stantz only used it because Dan Aykroyd love all the gizmos they made. He wanted to be the first to use them on set. Remember Dan is nut when it comes to Ghostbusters

They also said that the rest of the guys would use the PKE meters in the movies, but Harold was the only one who could use it and make it look believable. Supposedly there is a switch on the front of the meter that opens the wings and closes them and with everyone else you can see them push it up and down.

This could also reflect on the guys in the roles

Egon is the smartest and always works with numbers, so the PKE meter is good for him. The goggles show ray and someone who wants o see everything and likes to play with the non-dangerous gizmos so they are perfect for him.

That's some cool info, didn't know that (haven't listened to the commentary in ages).

It's a shame that society judges us based on the quantity and quality of our ‘bling’. That said, Ray certainly had more bling than the other guys in the flicks and the shows. Sure, Egon had the P.K.E. Meter, the weather balloon, and…..a giant chicken butt. Heh. But Ray had all the kickass gizmos. And by gizmo, Ah mean the Statue of Liberty. You don't get more kickass than the Statue of Liberty.

Oh deary me, Ah do believe Ah've got the vapors.

Also, film-wise: Danny A. is the only one of the three original guys that has the range of facial expression to capture that nervous yet excited look that he has on his face when you first seem them enter the ballroom wearing those Ecto Specs. At least that's mah view on the subject.

Oh dear me, I cannot see. I have not brought my specs with me.
