I used the search function to see if anyone had noted it before but couldn't find anything on the subject so here goes…

I bought the 2008 Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 DVD set today. Apparently it's the same set released a few years back, minus the booklet. The reason I bought it is ‘cos I never bought the previous ’green slime' set (since I already owned the original DVDs) and I borrowed my original film one DVD to the wrong person. Also, I was eager to see the two RGB episodes on the GB2 disc in digital quality before spending half a Playstation 2 on the Time Life set. :p

Anyway, long story short, half of the bonus features on this new film one DVD are missing…
Only the audio commentary, 1984 featurette and image galleries are available on the menu.
Also, when you select the 1984 featurette, it plays the 1999 DVD featurette!
That means no deleted scenes, storyboard comparisons, SFX documentary or 1984 featurette are available, while thery are clearly listed on the back cover of the box.

Has anyone encountered this problem, or is it just a production glitch on my copy?

The 2008 release is, as you noted a re-release of the ‘green slime’ DVDs. You've found that a lot of the features from the 1999 DVD are missing because the ‘green slime’ one had a lot of content ripped out of it.

If you want the features from the 1999 release, you'll have to try find a copy from that specific vintage.

Well, it was a sodess, actually
She doesn't seem to find it anymore ‘cos she moved recently. It’s probably in some box though… So I'll probably get it back one day…

So the ‘green slime’ box had content ripped out? Why the heck would they do that?
In any case, on this 2008 version all the 1999 features are present in the bonus features list on the rear cover. Well, except for the trailer.

Man, I hate it when they promise features on the backs on DVDs that aren't on the actual disc… This sadly isn't the first time, either…

Well done, Sony. Way to treat one of your most successful films. Well done…

well just hope for the BluRay version to have everything.

I have the 15th anniversary edition, and have had no problems whatsoever.(*peter)
