You said if the game is delayed - I also said if (or rather “it's it's” instead of “if it's”, but it's not a stretch to un-typo that one when reading, I hope) - and if we're assuming the game is delayed, when exactly did you think it's getting delayed to?

ahh ok. understood .
as for me , not sure ( scratches head)
I can't say that it makes finacial sense to delay the game.
Even with all of the publisher rubbish going on. Were you @ ComicCon by the way?

if you saw what I saw on the floor those days you would agree that they would be foolish to not go forward with this . The reviews keep coming in before the game is even out and they are all positive . They have really started a buzz with this game. Gamers from all walks of life came to play that demo and loved it!

Now, if sony is the money grubbing business machine that I think (know) they are, then this is a take the money and run situation. An October release would keep Ghostbusters hot just long enough to ride in on the success of the demos and reviews and maximize profit. The fans who are buying the game and the blu-ray are already doing both, but gamers who see it only as a game will pick it up because of the showings during the summer. 09 is too long to hit the core gaming market. All fandom aside, this game has more than a chance to be respected for its graphics , physics and story and it would be one of the first film franchises to transcend on that area , opening up a whole slew of movie based video game opportunities that they could eventually spearhead and make more money. So strictly from a business sense , If I were in charge it would be a “ Strike while the Iron is hot” thing. you know what I mean?

~ok back to being a sad fan now

Couldn't have put it better QZEDDEMOORE. I agree completely, this IP is more viable now then ever. Waiting till 09 could be dangerous, as far as I can see nothing in October will interfere with the games release, this is the fall must have game.

well , there are some high profile games coming out ( like Fallout 3 and I heard Fable was coming in OCT as well) but you're right. Nothing would stand in the way of this being THE sleeper Hit of 08'

a perfect example comes to mind:

The Re- Release of Star Wars the original
trilogy with Star Wars battlefront.the DVDs
had marginal sales , But Star Wars Battlefront
went on to be the greatest selling Star Wars video
game of all time just shortly before it was Trumped
by it's sequel a couple of years later and it was because
it was simply a great game with online multiplayer.
They are expecting that the game will drive up sales
of the movies and vice versa , But thats not really
a well proven sales strategy.

sales or not delaying game will only decrease the profit over then from now untill the game's release in 09 if that happens not to mention the re-hashed GB 1 and 2 gift set.

sales wise, delaying something that has had a lot of advance hype often kills the wider excitement about a product, doesn't it? maybe i misunderstand this, but i certainly remember something similar happening with the Alien Resurrection PS1 game. All hyped for release, got delayed at the last minute, magazines didn't want to write it up again when it DID come out so it just kind of slipped away.

um, yeah, my only worry would be that, since magazines have hyped it so much, turning round to the gaming public and saying, “oh, next year now!” might just make it a damp squib.

If the game loses its momentum and subsequently sells below expectations, we might never get another GB game again!!!

It just popped in there…

What if the delaying thing is cause this fall the videogame releases will be hard? For example, Gears of War 2 will hit stores on November… and the 360 gamers around the world will put their eyes (and fingers) on it.

Maybe they don´t want to release a game that will be forgotten in about a month (I know the GB fanbase will not forget it, but face it, GoW2 it´s a long awaited game… I´m waiting for it).

I don't mind a slight delay but a year long delay is ridiculous. If anything how about a holiday release. There be a slight delay and it wont be competing with games like gears of war 2

Well lets face facts. Gears of war 2 and ghostbusters are apples and oranges, both market wise, demand, appeal, etc. Gears is undoubtley going to sell a shit load of more copies then ghostbusters, but, if the game sucks, the hammer is going to come down really hard on it.

Also, its basicly the same game as the last one, with a new story and a few tweaks to the technology. So in that aspect, its not nessessary a built from the ground up game like ghostbusters. Plus with word of mouth, and hype, its this years “required must own” Game if you have a 360

HOWEVER ghostbusters, if they do launch will have the advantage, cause its a well known franchise long over due, has a huge loyal fan base, and is multi platform, so it might sell more copies of the game then gears because its spread out over multiple systems. Gears, its u have a 360 or u dont play it.

As for this rumor, a cast member wants 50% profit shares, im viewing it as just a rumor, but, to be honest, i wouldent put it past bill murry to be behind it if its true. Dont get me wrong, i got much love for bill, its just, my oppion of him went down alot as a person, when i saw him on American Chopper with the caddyshack bike, he came off as very bossy and self centered and a real jerk at time, but then again, i could have gotten the wrong impression, so who knows but knowing that he has personaly hanged up making a gb3 for years, and now, idk how much of him is in the game (not too much cause hes missing in action from the demo apparently and i have yet to see a still shot of his digital self, yet he is getting top billing in the trailer if i remember correctly)
