It's been announced today that following his recent hospitalisation, the actor Gary Coleman has passed away at the age of 42 from a brain haemorrhage.

It's strange, Diff'rent Strokes was never particularly big over here… but at least in my household, Gary Coleman is a known name even if it's from the more geek/subculture aspect of it. His cameo in the Simpsons was amusing and memorable, and the light-hearted depiction of him in Avenue Q is one of the other things that immediately comes to mind when I think of him.

It's strange because despite not having really seen him in anything, I did feel more than a pang of sorrow when the unfortunate news was announced.

Rest in peace, Mr. Coleman.
