Thanks to Chris for getting the scoop on the story:

UK gamers get game sneak-peak
Posted on March 1, 2008

Play.com (a particularly spiffy online retailer of movies, etc. in the UK) is having it’s Live! event at Wembley Stadium on March 15th and 16th.

This sounds cool in general, with the promise of Rock Band jamming, but of high interest to ghostheads;

The Sun
Jam away on EA’s Rock Band music game where you play guitars, drums and sing and get the chance to try out the new Ghostbusters adventure that’s certainly going to be one of this year’s classics.

There’s also the likes of Soul Calibur IV and Lego Indiana Jones to try out plus competitions, live bands and plenty of surprises.

To get tickets, just log onto play.com or call 0845 270 1669 (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm).

Any UK gamers attending are encouraged to report to PC!

The info available isn't great - the event doesn't even have it's own site which is pretty poor, but this is the first time it's being run.

You can purchase tickets here:
Play.com Live!

Please note, the event runs from:

Sat 15 March - Morning 10am - 2pm/Afternoon 2pm - 6pm
Sun 16 March - Morning 10am - 2pm/Afternoon 2pm - 6pm

One ticket purchase will allow you entry to only one half of one day, to be there the whole day you'll have to spend £12.

The music guests set to be playing include (subject to change):
Elliot Minor
Supergrass

The hosts for the event will be:
Gemma Atkinson and Iain Lee

And the games on display include:
Project Origin
LEGO Batman
Rock Band
Soul Calibur 4
LEGO Indiana Jones
Race Driver: GRID
The Bourne Conspiracy
Ghostbusters
Viking: Battle of Asgard
Condemned 2
Iron Man
SEGA Superstars Tennis
Ninja Gaiden II.

For more info, here's a pretty good FAQ about the event with some other articles linked to it: TVG Play.com Live Q&A

I'm certainly going, not sure if it'd be afternoon or morning yet.

I think I may go to this! I think I'm back in London when it's on. Might have to try and grab some friends to tag along.

The interesting part of that line-up is that a majority of those games are being released between late March / Early June. The ones that aren't are either listed as TBA or have already been released. Not saying that that means anything (after all, thats just a small portion of the ones being displayed I'm sure), just something I noticed.

My tickets arrived today, so I'm pretty much set to attend from a bit after ten tomorrow morning up to possibly around half five.

For those interested in meeting me, I'll be wearing a Ghostbusters T-shirt, a blue Kangol hat and will most likely be carrying a grey laptop bag with me. An additional identifier if I'm outside: Brown bomber jacket.

To be honest, a little let down on news on the new GB game.
They had a small stand, playing a repeat of a 30-45 sec video clip of footage we have all seen before (when it worked, it kept on freezing, then stopping), with the GB theme tune in the background.
The footage was being played through a PS3 on blue-ray, but showing Xbox 360 gameplay.
There were a few staff members in GB hoodies & jumpers wandering around the stand.

But the best was yet to come!
I asked one of the staff about the game, he didnt know anything other than its coming out on all consoles etc in the autumn. But then he said “when you leave, go and look in the car park, the Ecto-1 is out there”
So we sped off to have a look, and we found a replica Ecto-1 and a huge inflatable Stay-Puft!
Here are a few pics of the Ghostbuster bits (sorry for the bad quality):

Matt’s report makes it sounds like a pretty disappointing experience. I hope that the folks who attended specifically for the Ghostbusters game found other things to make it worth the price of admission.

By the way, here are a few more photos of the inflatable Stay-Puft, Ecto-1 replica, and a shot of the video playing in the booth.
