Probably because they feel its not “eye catching” enough for a display rack. Which I can't entirely disagree with. It's a great cover, and I would like it as well (the classic black that is), but to get casual customers to pick it up, they need an eye catching cover, which I guess they feel this is.

Artistically speaking, the combination of red, black and white is one of the most “eye-catching” in that it is extremely recognizable and distinct. In fact, many people believe these colors are among the first we see as infants. I have a feeling the blue color has more to do with updating the look, and to a lesser extent, having an excuse to make a blue cover for the blu-ray.
