What was the difference between the PKE Meter & the Gigameter?

They look like they both do the exact same thing.

The PKE Meter measures Psychokinetic Energy, the Giga Meter measures Giga Electron Volts. A form of energy generated by some paranormal-based events but wan to a different scale then P.K.E.

That's about the extent of what I was aware of.

Here's what “GIGA ELECTRON VOLTS” sounds like to me:

The Giga-meter measures the same stuff as the PKE meter, but it can do so in far, far greater amounts. I remember reading something about how the PKE Meter can overload and get too “hot” if there's too much stuff in the area. Is there anything to back this assertion up?
