God bless Widescreen!

We just got a new widescreen TV this week, and of course I just HAD to christen it by watching the Ghostbusters DVD smile

Fair dinkum, it's fantastic! It took a while to fine tune the settings before I got the perfect setup, but after that it was a blast. Everybody should have the opportunity to see Ghostbusters will full surround sound (from orbital speakers) and a crystal clear widescreen picture. Unbelievable.

While I was watching it, the next door neighbour popped over for a visit with his kids, and the little guys were all in awe of Ghostbusters! Can you believe it? I think they were about 7 years old or so, but they reacted to it like it was a brand new movie or something. I swear, Ghostbusters, with it's 1984 technology, still stands tall among comtemporary effects-driven movies.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that will you all smile

It still amazes me how good the special effects in Ghostbusters (and Ghostbusters 2) are, given how old they are. The SE team really did put a lot of hard work into it…

Right on! Whoever transfered both movies in fullscreen/pan-and-scan formats should be kicked out of the movie industry. Talk about butchering classics.
