Yes. As Agent D just said, they were mentioned in one of the now deleted News Articles.

Not having a Lovecraft reference would be a crime, he's the original master of horror.

Taking into consideration that the entire original film is Lovecraft inspired, it would only be logical to include direct Lovecraftian influences and references.

I've noticed recently that the plot to Ghostbusters parallels the plot to the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Dunwich Horror”. Some of the details differ, but the similarities are interesting. It's a great story. I gotta recommend Lovecraft to any Ghosthead who has never read his stuff.
