my question is what kind of battery or how many do i need to make this work without plugging it in the outlet. in the back it says “120v/60hz/3w ” should be a eye catcher if i can get it to work.

Are we talking about the belt device for the Ghostbusters uniform?
If so, you do realise it didn't ever light up in either of the films? You don't need to have it flashing.
