Here's a question...

I'd really like to hear everyone's REAL thoughts on GB2. Do you think it is as just as special as GB1? Personally I think no. Now don't get me wrong, I really do like GB2, but I felt that there was some sort of magic that GB1 had that was slightly lacking in GB2. I must say though, that GB2 DOES have some terrific moments. The high points for me are:

*The whole courtroom scene from start to finish is hilarious.
*The scene with Ray, Winston and Egon in the old train tunnel is brilliant, especially when they see those heads. (scared me for weeks when I was little that scene did)
*The ‘World Of The Psychic’ scene cracks me up every time I see it.
*Winston had much more screen time in GB2 than he did in GB1, which is good because I think Winston's a great character.
*The scene with the ghost ship Titanic arriving at the docks is classic, as is the scene where the GBs make Lady Liberty walk.
*Vigo was a great villain. Not as good as Gozer, but still great.
*Yanosh (I know, I know, I've spelt it wrong) was a good new character.

The low points:
*Janine being paired off with Louis. Ew. I firmly believe that she belongs with Egon.
*Slimer looked really weird in GB2, like a giant sized, green potato or something. I liked the GB1 Slimer much better.
*The Mayor's assistant. I know that he was supposed to be annoying, but I just wanted to kick his a$$ everytime he was on screen.

The good thing about GB2 is that for me there are more high points that low ones. For a sequal that's great. I guess I really should be a little easier on GB2, since it had a hell of a lot to live upto in GB1.

What are everyone elses opinions on this? Do you love GB2 as much GB1? Do you think it's just ‘okay’? Or do you hate it and think it should never have been made? What are the high and low points of GB2 for you? List them here! smile

first of all i think you make very good points on the gb movies. i like gb1 only slightly better than gb2 ( and i cant stress that enough, slightly ) there are some areas in gb2 where it could have been better than gb1. for instance like you said janine and louis ( i dont think so) louis also took credit for saving newyork and even though it was cool i think they could have come up with something diffrent than them saving newyork by blasting the statue of liberty with positive slime but other than that the sequel lived up to the original

I think the “magic” that was missing in GB2 is that Bill Murray didn't have as much to do.GB1 is pretty much his movie, he had some great 1 liners that just didnt appear in the sequel.

I felt GB 2 had some good pionts. After it came out on video I watch alot, evan thought Vigo scared the pants off of me when ever he came on.

Here's my list of GB 2 highlights, and
lowpoints.
Highs:
Extended part for Winston.
The Courtroom scene.
The F/X.
Peter and Dana's relationship.
The Slime Blowers, They hardly ever used
new weapons on RGB, when they did it was for only one episode.
The Ecto 1A
The montage with Peter and Ray traping the ghost jogger.
The Painting of the GB's and Oscar at the end. It still makes me laugh every time I see that part.

Lows:
Didn't say why Janine stoped likeing
Egon and going after Louis.
Didn't state why Louis wanted to become a Ghostbuster.( Those deleted scenes mite have helped in this case.)

Even though Ghostbusters 2 was usually as funny as Ghostbusters it was usually a rehashed version of the first movie and was a repetitive. Not that this isn't bad of course smile Personally when I was little I found ghostbusters scarier than the second one. But thats just me smile

GB2, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I find GB2 more funnier myself, and overall more enjoyable. It WOULD have been better if the “Powers that be” had left it alone. Oh, and in regarde to the statement that it was Murry's movie. I don't think so. Last time I checked it was written by Mr.Ramis and Mr.Akroyd, not Mr.Murray. If its anybody's movie it was Dan and Harold's. And to teh fact that he doesn't have any lines in GB2 like he does in GB1: Huh? HGave you forgot about the:

Jello line
Bone-head line
Monkey tree line?

Well have you?
