This is important to me and I figured maybe by some miracle someone might be able to help me out with this…so I've been on a DESPERATE quest for something that has been so incredibly elusive, I have been on the hunt for it for FOURTEEN YEARS!!! This particular item, if I can find it, would just about be the Holy Grail of my massive collection of all things Halo, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Real Ghostbusters, and other stuff. What is this most-prized item, you may ask?…get ready, because it's pretty shocking…

ECTO COOLER!!!

Yes, that lovable drink from our youth that was a Hi-C promotional drink for The Real Ghostbusters cartoons. Seriously, I've been searching for 14 years for this stuff. I have a lot of good memories of that drink (whenever I was able to get it…my local stores didn't get it often) and have been desperately looking for either an empty Ecto Cooler box or a full one. After 14 years of scavenging every web site and flea market imaginable for this stuff, I found one on eBay and tragically lost. Needless to say, I was beside myself with grief, knowing that I most likely will never see another box of this stuff ever in my lifetime on eBay or anywhere else.

If ANYONE has ANY idea as to where I might be able to find this stuff or if by any snowball's chance someone might actually have a box, please e-mail me and let me know. I know it's a really strange request, but like I said, I've got really fond memories of this stuff from my childhood. Thanks in advance for any help!

“We had part of an Ecto-Cooler…but I straitened it”, lol…seriously, sorry to burst your bubble, but you probably will never find an original Ecto-Cooler…well, unopened anyway, here's the simple equation that will show you why;

Juice+Box+Time=Fermentation+Bacteria+Gas=Boom!!!, This Can Happen!!!

Well not the boom part, but box would leak from the juice/cooler spoiling, creating bacteria, then gas, that will then cause the box to leak. This actually happened to me with a bottle of Hockeytown Natural Spring Water that I got from Joe Louis Arena when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in ‘96, I had that bottle for 12 1/2 years(gross, I know), and one day I opened my closet and notice water dripping from the top shelf, and when I checked the bottle, it had a long crack going down it’s side(and no I didn't drop it, or the box it was in), the water became just stagnant enough to create the amount of gas needed to crack the bottle, without turning the water all nasty looking. I've also seen this happen to many other souvenir beverages like pop, beer, ect.

Ecto cooler has been out of production for a while now. It was sold a while ago under the title Crazy Citrus Cooler and Shoutn' orange Tangeregreen.

And then there's the increased throw-ability of anything associated with consumables. I wish you luck, but I don't think it's very luck you'll find one, and if you should, that it'd be in good condition.

Despite that, there have been people who own/owned full boxes of Ecto Cooler. Matt from x-entertainment had a quite a few cases, as we saw during his articles about the Ecto Cooler coming back in different names. The only thing with him is, he opened them to take pictures.

I wish I could find these people who have had those boxes of Ecto Cooler…I also tried e-mailing Matt, but I haven't received a response. I would pay a FORTUNE for a box of this stuff! Like I said earlier, I saw a box on eBay and it was in perfect shape. It was the only box I had ever seen in my scouring of eBay since its founding. That's an excellent point about the juice fermentation…still, I'll keep on searching until the day I die for this stuff. It's the ultimate quest!

I recently learned of a new service called Yotify which will periodically check eBay and other sites for the search terms you set and then report back to when it's found something. I haven't signed up for it yet, though I plan to as soon as I have some free time, because like you there are a few items that I'd like to know when they appear on eBay, but don't want to constantly check for myself.

Maybe you can use Yotify to let you know when more Ecto-Cooler appears on eBay.

Aside from that, I don't know what else to suggest.

Am I the only one wondering why it's so important to get a empty cardboard juice box? The RGB Cereal boxes I can understand, as they had those wicked holograms on them…

There are people who like collecting food packages that tie in with stuff. Ecto Cooler is one of them. While it is cool, I wouldn't really PAY for an empty cartoon of juice.
