I'm assuming you mean props in general. I don't know how other's do, but i'm using metallic tape.

Primer Then Silver Paint Then Semi Gloss Black.

That is all after you get the wood grain to go away, using bondo, and wood filler.

I thought you would use black paint rather than silver for the Packs.

I use body filler, It puts a metal coat over the prop.

If you can do metal work, or know someone who does….use galvanized sheet metal. Can't beat that.
