How much money would it take to have an Ecto-1?

Honestly, I would buy a white 1994 Ford Taurus station wagon, like so:

… and spend the rest of the money on getting custom vinyl stickers made for the sides. Most shops don't really give a crap about copywriting graphics (i.e. those stupid-ass bootleg Calvin weeing on a Ford logo stickers you see on rusting Chevy Blazers, y'know the type). Like so:

All in all, that should run about 3 grand.

Your forgetting the most important part.

Once you have your Ecto in perfect shape, you can't drive it.

If some moron side swipes you, you will not be able to get body parts to fix it. From front windshields, to rear quarter panels, parts just are not available.

Having an ecto is having a museum piece. I don't know how anybody could think of driving it when one accident and its over. (;_

Also, how can you have a minibar in your car in your state. You don't have open container laws?

Are you sure about that? I think you may mean $150,000, as The Volo Auto Museum had an Ecto 1 made from a '59 Cadilliac Eureka for sale last year.

We're not even using the correct model of car and we've still spent about $15,000. We got lucky with getting a 72 Pontiac ambulance in very good shape except for missing an engine. The rebuilt 455 engine was most of the expense. Brand new Code 3 lightbars came to $1500. Luckily the car owners parents run their own car restoration shop so the labor has been donated to us from the employees and we've only been paying for the parts and at wholesale. I don't want to think it would have cost us if we had been paying for the labor.
