HQ/GBN Topic of the Day 2/18/02 - The Hose

It's been a long discussed topic but the fact of the matter is that there never has been an official answer. So Ghostheads, we pose the question to you:

What exactly does the hose that runs from the pant leg of the Ghostbusters' jumpsuits do?

Get creative, what do you think its purpose is, let's hear it!

Personally I'm thinking that it's a personal heating system that runs through the coolant vent of the Proton Packs. Makes sense right? I'm sure those proton accelerators heat up and why not harness that energy to keep warm on a cool New York night? Heh… What do you think?

I think it's a purely asthetic accessory. It LOOKS like it should do something important, but in reality, it does nothing.

Yeah, I think it's there for show as well. Although Net, your theory makes perfect sense too.

Naw, that's the easy way out… there has to be a reason for them being there. Not like a hose sticking out of your leg is exactly convenient.

Anyone else have an idea? Ecto Cooler sipper? Ventilation for those jogging scenes?

Someone over on the prop board mentioned that they thought it is an Ecto Cleaner, used only for the large busts.

Ideas?

All your ideas are good.

I really should just email the guy that owns Dan's GB2 suit and ask where it goes..

I think that Ectoman has a good suggestion on that one. I'd have to say that it would probably serve some sort of purpose like to protect against excess radiation from the pack. From what my guess is it connects to something on the back of the belt (it's seen clearly somewhere in GB2).

Maybe it was to keep them dry if they got a little too scared *laughs* wink

Maybe it's there in case the one on the gun breaks? Of course if that one were to break during firing, I doubt you'd have time to replace it before your skin melted off from the protons.
