I don't think people can read RULES very well...

Alright, everyone, listen up!

Remember when you were between the ages of 8-12, and you had no cares in the world, and you thought you can do whatever you want without fear of any form of reprecussion….those were the days, weren't they? Well, it seems that for some, those days aren't over.

I just got through rating a bunch of fanfics, and I came across one that was inexcusable.

You people know who you are. The rules are here for a REASON. The message board rules also apply to the fanfic boards, for those who can't put 2 and 2 together.

Don't even start with the “mature” fanfic argument. That kind of rubbish is NOT mature….it is CHILDISH.

For those who aren't English majors, here is the definition for the word “mature”:

Mature \,me-'t(y)u(e)r\ adj. 1: having completed natural growth or development:ripe 2: having attained final desired state 3: Characteristic of or suitable to a mature individual 4: Due for payment 5: belonging to the middle portion of a cycle of erosion.

Nowhere, in that entry, did I see “stuff that has lots of sex and violence and swearing like the big people do in movies.”

Come on, a “mature” story doesn't need the “f” word to be an adjective, nor does it need “racial” slurs, or “slurs” against a person's sexual preference. It does not need sex, either.

The word “adult” and “mature” are two words that are misused constantly. I can enjoy a fanfiction without the smut, and most other people on this site can, too.

The MODS are tough on people because alot of people force them to be.

The degree to which they are jerks is wholly dependent on how well you can follow SIMPLE rules.

If the rules are followed, there would be no problems. I don't think this is an excrutiatingly painful task. This is getting to be like pulling teeth.

The majority of the board can do this, why can't you?

Thanks for the information Vince. BTW, I need to discuss some things with you about the story I'm writing with Bo. I understand that this isn't a “Private message forum” But i haven't seen you online on AIm recently.

For the sake of anonymity in a certain case, I sent you an email providing some info that may be useful to you.

I'd like to point out, Vincent, that when they say mature, they don't mean that the subject is mature, but rather it's for mature people who won't laugh, and make stupid jokes about it. But still, it doesn't belong here. This place is for people pretty mature and up.

I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in ch-ching.
There's nothing wrong with the story other than the intense story telling and insinuation but before you call someone out for a posted submission, at least ask them for a more edited version, they'll probably oblige you and send it in. If you say, hey, clean up the language some or could you not go so far out there, to them you'll get more curteous results than just slammin' someone out there.

The rules were posted, and alot of MODS feel that those rules were being “pushed” when that story was written.

This is for ALL PEOPLE who write fanfics.

If this is what people want, then they are posting fanfics at the wrong site.

This site is visited by a wide variety of people of all age categories.

There is nothing wrong with a bit of horror writing. There is something wrong when a female character in a fanfic is being called a “dyke.”

We do not have a rating system on this site, and I don't think one is really needed. A “mature” fanfic can be written without gross vulgarity.

A rating system would only detract from a site. What parent would let their child onto a site that has an “adults only” section? Why would Chad want to hassle himself by putting an Age-check on his site?

The rules are very simple. If you want to post the fic, post it on a “mature” site.

Being mature does not mean that one must “cuss like a sailor”

Please don't resort to making someone post a LIST of what words you can't use.

Use discretion and common sense to dictate what you write. Just remember that you are on a site that all walks of life visit, and that the site has simple rules that all should abide by.

Now I'm becoming redundant, and I think you get the picture.

If you need info on what will be accepted, and some writing tips, see: “What is required to do well with a fanfic?”

Happy Posting!
