Interesting question for everyone here to ponder. . .

Why is it the it is damn near 18 years since the release of Ghostbusters and we are all still die hard fans? What makes you and I come to great sites like these and talk, read, and remember a franchise that is that old?

Why do you and I scroll through countless eBay pages, looking for that 1 item to complete our ghostbuster collection.

Why do you and I spend countless hours building props?

Why do you and I contact others to trade/buy RGB/EGB episodes so we can have a full set?

Me? I've been a fan since day 1, and I will be a fan until my final day. I really can't even answer my own question.

All I can say is that I have, do and forever will savor every minute of being a ghosthead.

Mayby for some (like me) it has to do with childhood memories. Growing up playing and watching GB and it's a part of you. OK, that and the fact that Ray is such a cutie. smile

I wouldn't even be here were it not for my tapes of RGB episodes. But, here I am…

i agree with the gb's being such a large part of my childhood. much like tmnt, gb's were everything when i was little. unlike the present pokemon, digimon crap, gb's and tmnt have something to offer adults. ghostbusters/gb2 are VERY funny movies. there are so many jokes that i catch now, that i didn't when i was little. tmnt, in the beginning, was an COOL comic. all dark and stuff, just what i enjoy in comics now. i even still get a kick out of watching the first movie, but not really the cartoons, 2nd and 3rd movies. anyway… it's just something that brings me back to my childhood.

I'm a fan of the group pre-Ghostbusters. Caddyshack was my first “R” picture. Saw Stripes on late night picture show and LOVED the original cast of Saturday Night Live. I followed SCTV and National Lampoon where most of these guys worked and thrived. When they made a supernatural comedy, they revolutionized the horror/comedy genre. It was a great, original, fresh flick that people loved.

I still dig it because it was the most imaginative schtick to come out of the Second City/SNL family and because I really respect Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis and Reitman.

I'm eighteen years old, and I still refuse to grow up.

i'm 19 years old, and yeah, i refuse to grow up too. Ghostbusters is the first film I can remember watching, and i was reallllly young at the time. But that sense of awe and excitement that i felt when i first saw it back then still comes back each and every time i watch the film. I know, after over tons of viewings, you'd think the movie would lose its magic. No way. Its still there, all of it. I'm currently a film major at Columbia University, and if I'm ever successful in the film industry, I owe it all to ghostbusters - i started making short ghostbusters films when i was really young, and discovered teh fun of making films. I've been doing it ever since (www.3rpro.com - plug!) and i plan on making a career out of it. My goal, movie wise, would be to someday write a film that captures the same sense of…well, overall perfection of the first GB film - doubt itll happen, but shoot high, as they say. Im not going to get into all the reasons why Ghostbusters might ahve this effect on me, but I gotta admit that I've watched their first bust scene with slimer a zillion times, and it never fails to send a shiver down my spine.

I'm 21, and I refuse to grow up. Granted, everyone will mature, but no one,….I repeat, NO ONE, will take away these precious hobbies of mine. People who “never grow up” in this way tend to turn out to be nicer people anyway. Long live Ghostbusters….may it never meet the grave!

Well i am 18 years and i am a fan since i saw GB1!!!!

But the thing i dont understand is:

Why are most people laughing about ghostbusters? When i tell some friends i am a fan etc… they just smile… and all say: Ha ha, ghostbusters, ha ha, thats funny crap… bla bla bla

WHY all say this about ghostbusters??? They dont even know details about them, they know nothing, just some scenes from the movie!

WHY do YOU ghostheads think that all other people are laughing and joking about ghostbusters?
