Roland Emmerich´s 2012

Great visual effects… really amazing.

Seconded. Sure, the man has had a bit of a thing for destroying cities for the better part of a decade, but he sure knows how to make them visual and entertaining.

Movie I'm seeing this afternoon: Planet 51.

Good on you. I think it's the first film made by Handmade Films (George Harrison's motion-picture company) since Time Bandits.

I didn't know that, but am all the more glad for it.

Planet 51 was really enjoyable, even with a few cringe-enducing bits… there were plenty of laughs, as well as a whole plethora of amusing sci-fi/Alien jokes and a production quality and cast list on a pretty similar level to animated films being made by Pixar or Dreamworks.

Ilion Animation and HandMade Films should be proud with the finished effort, there was a lot of love and effort in evidence, even though it's not doing too well at the box office, and seems to be a bit underappreciated, they've got a guaranteed DVD purchase from me.

The art book of the film is also going to be ending up in my possession sooner or later.

“Drag Me To Hell”

What a complete flaming bag of dog poopie.

It's sad that the biggest rip off of a Sam Raimi movie is actually a Sam Raimi movie.

Hey! I liked Drag me to Hell! It reminded me a lot of Evil Dead II and portions of Army of Darkness

I second that! But, I didn't go in expecting it to be amazing though. I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly suprised.

Oh. I always thought it symbolized that one bird who flew right into the path of an oncoming fastball. Poof!
actually someone on IMDB thinks it is a symbol that Jenny was finally free. When she was eight years old or so she and Forrest prayed for her to be a bird so that she could be free and fly anywhere she wanted. All her life she was horrible. Her father beat her. Her boyfriends beat her. She used drugs and was suicidal. Then she realised she straightened up, but she died and was sent to Heaven and was finally free as a bird like she prayed for when she was eight or so.

Last movie seen:

A Christmas Carol in 3D.

An enjoyable telling of the familiar classic… with some more sinister tones then you'd usually expect from a animated Disney feature.

The CGI was at a level I don't think we've seen before… realistic to a certain degree, but not a concious attempt to go for realistic skin and such.

Despite being Disney's third adaptation, it was still a good telling of the tale… and Jim Carrey and the rest of the cast played their parts well, especially those doing multiple roles.

I got about half way through “Guyver 2” on VHS and I just gave up. “Power Rangers” monsters splashing around in a lake like toddlers? Pass.

I also watched about 75% of “Club Dread” when I was out getting crunk.
