are some of their products not all that great as far as accuracy/quality?

Exactly. Official does not always mean good, or even accurate.

I don't see this being under 1000 dollars, not matter what they say.

I'm sure that if they are working with Sony Pictures, the replicas will not be crap, and as far as price goes, a lot can happen in a years time, right now, under a grand, next year $5000, it really all depends on where and how they're made. I'm still sycked though.:-)(*peter)

I'd love to own an official trap and pack, but I'm afraid these things will be out of my budget range. The economy isn't doing so good either, so that makes it a little harder for me to say I'm going to spend thousands of dollars on props. But hey, hopefully they just do a good job, and make the props worthy of being called “official”. Some of the fan-made stuff has set the bar pretty high.

Whatever the cost, it is going to be hard for me not to pick up their line of GB merch. Although the thought of spending 2G's on toys (in a sense) does make me think that my priorities are a little out of whack.

That's what I've read thus far in other topics about the Master Replicas GB props, that whilst on some items they've done pretty well, on others they weren't as good/accurate.

The DVD rereleases of the films would argue otherwise.

Agreed… and that's the thing. Some of the best Proton Packs (with lights and sound) go for $2000, but not everyone has to have lights and sound in theirs… and if they do, they could build the main body of the pack on year, and then save up for the electronics the next year… so I feel the fan made packs actually work out better price wise because where you may be getting all the whistles and bells in one go with a MR prop, $1,000 (estimated) is a lot to spend in one go… where as the fan made one could be slowly put together over the course of years and the builder can wait to save up the cash… because as expensive as some of the elements are, they'd hit the bank balance less harshly over a period of time then in a one-stop purchase.

If they are going to make fairly accurate proton packs for under a grand with lights and sound I'll be picking one up for sure, next year I am already planning to buy a prop pack, so this may be good for me.

On the other hand it does seem like it could end up being very pricey if they do make a pack.

www.5552368.com is now up and running. Not a whole lot there yet. Seems to be a knock off of the game format from the GB:TVG website. You have to answer 4 (non-GB)questions correctly to make it inside, then you just get to see the press releases we've all already seen. No additional info or pics yet.

I'll do what I always do and remain cautiously optimistic.

MR has a mixed track record,so it remains to be seen how this comes out.

For someone like me, who couldn't put a proton pack together if it were a snap kit, this will probably suffice.

For a die-hard builder, I'm sure there will some complaints.
