It depends on your definition of obese, like FAT FAT people, regualar fat people, or beer belly fat?

I agree America is becoming an ugly site when it comes to weight. I think a lot of it convience and laziness. Because most americans are so busy with their everyday lives they look towards the quick eat. A healthy diet is very hard to maintain. I'm not for sure about this because I've never been out of the US, but from what I've heard from my cousin who moved to Budapest, she says serving sizes in Europe are a lot smaller than the ones in the US. So that right there could be a solution, getting rid of the supersize. I think by promoting more exercise like we have been doing is helping, but the mass that's already obese needs help. It's very hard to lose weight, especially for people with special needs.

For example I used to be a fatass, and then got off my ass and lost 110 lbs. Then I started having leg problems, I got a total right knee replacement that put me on bed rest for 4 months. Now I have to get a hip replacement also. In the past year since my surgury I've gained 100 lbs back, but over the summer managed to lose 25 lbs. The key is motivation, and most people do not have that. I personally can't stand it and that's why I go to the gym 3 days out of the week, and watch what I eat,but with very limited aerobic exercises I can do, it's a tough process.

I think that if the government got more involved with funding more places like the YMCA, it would help, the cost issue sucks also. I go to the YMCA about 45 minutes from here because our town only has about 10,000 people in it we don't get one, and it's expensive, I spend $350 a month in membership fees, 30-50 dollars a week in gas driving there, healthy foods are double the cost of fatty,procesed foods that it really sucks.

So there are a lot of problems listed right there, cost, availability, time, special situations, motivation. There are so many it's going to take a long time to fix this problem because unlike myself and a lot of others out there, most people have just starting to accept the fact that they are fat and do nothing about it. It's sad….except ghetto bootys, and big boobs, those are the only exceptions to the rule.
