I was just thinking too bad Dan Akroyd or Harold Ramis wouldn't just split the bill to publish it themselves since this is their baby. I am surprised neither one of them have said anything about this whole thing.

Thing is though, it is hard to self publish a game.

Development of a game cost at least $10-30 million now a days, $10-30 million more to market the thing, plus who knows how much to actually mass produce this game and I am just going for bare minimum here.

You have all this red tape and legal fees and so much more that it would cost a lot for any one person. Probably too much Dan Aykroyd could afford. He is rich, but not THAT rich. It is easier to just get a publisher. They handle all that crap and provide the needed funding.

Heck, i am just glad Dan got Bill Murray to be on board with this project because Bill Murray is fickle when it comes to doing voice work.

No, Bill Murray prefers it more than “live action work” because it means he has to work less. It's getting his likeness which was the problem, that and he doesn't like doing sequels. Ghostbusters 2 and Garfield 2 were the only sequels he's ever done, and I guess you can count the game too.

Dan and Harold aren't a publishing company, so legally they couldn't publish it anyway, even if they wanted too. I doubt “Sony” or “Activision” would be selling it to them anytime soon either, as it would be much more profitable to sell it to a publishing company that can get the most money out of it.

That's not what I meant by that. Dan Aykroyd had the plans for a Ghostbusters 3 for a while, but Bill Murray was against it because he didn't want to ruin the Ghostbusters as a franchise. He believed that Ghostbusters was great and believe that if it was milked too much, like Star Wars, it would lose that flavor of originality.

Bill Murray was also asked to do voice work for the Ghostbusters cartoon, but turned that down because of this fact. That is what I really meant. I meant he was fickle about anything Ghostbusters related.

Sorry I should have been more specific.

We almost didn't get a Ghostbusters 2 for the same reason, that he didn't want to ruin the franchise. Which is why we didn't get Ghostbusters 3, which is a well known fact now that Murray is ONE of the reasons we didn't get it already, that and I believe Dan said he was having trouble selling the script to a company.

I take it others have read about that 50 Cent game that was also dropped by Craptivision?

Apparently that might be on the verge of getting a new publisher, THQ, i think. Also that it might still make it out in time for christmas THIS year.

IF thats true then surely the GB game could make it out in time too. I mean obviously it ain't gunna, but it just seems weird to me.

Figures, a pretty lame looking game/tie-in with a rapper trying to make himself look impressive getting out sooner then Ghostbusters…

But then, that one is going to be forgotten by next year, Ghostbusters will still be here for years to come.

I dunno if anyone else has heard anything new about the game, but Spook Central just posted a new magazine article about it. There are a couple new pics, but nothing we really haven't seen already, nor does the article mention anything we all don't already know.

I've been finding it very difficult dealing with the 2009 release lately. All I gotta say is, Sony BETTER make the wait worth it. I wanna see merchandise out the wazoo come next year's anniversary hype….mostly (in addition to the game of course) some proper friggin' action figures!!!
