Any word on the rumors i herd about Atari or EA being the publishers?

Anyone else here that?

So here's what I've found on Atari/EA

1.) ZOMG! PRESS RELEASE IMMINENT

2.) Rumor has it that someone heard that the rumored rumor about the rumored developer rumor are, in fact, rumored to be rumor.

3.) These rumored rumors state that Atari/EA/God himself (in a twist of irony) will in fact, publish the fabled game about busting ghosts.

4.) It may or may not be coming out for perhaps only some of or all of the platforms originally intended.

The best option is to take it all with a grain of salt. :-) We'll hear something one day, eventually. Take a breather.

Well atari does pick up some games and they will problay pick up ghostbusters hopefully soon enough for it to be out my x-mas

Not going to happen, even if Atari does pick it up, it'll still get delayed till June for the 25th anniversary.

I think they could still sell the game as a 25 year thing even if it's before june. Other than true ghostbusters fans, i dont think people know the exact month the original film came out. just probably the year.

I agree, as long as we are in 2009, Sony can slap a 25 year anniversary sticker on anything and everything GB related. Besides the diehard fan community, no one knows the month the film was released.

I don't think we will have to wait till 06/09. I'm thinking more like the end of Q1 if they really are that close to finding a new publisher.

But if they are close why haven't we heard anything else? Proton Charging said we would hear something in the next week. Who was lying?

Castewar said “Sony should be announcing shortly” rather than “Sony will be announcing shortly”, for as big as news of an announcement is it was still coming from a Sony insider rather than an official spokesperson so putting aside the possibility of the person deliberately misleading Cas, it could simply mean at that time the insider was given an impression an announcement would be imminent.

Could be one was, but things have gotten derailed.

As for the ‘next week’ comment… it isn't a week from now, but was the ‘next two weeks’ following his post on September 1st which has come and gone, obviously… and that was a estimate on his part, not the Sony insider's.


I can imagine a few scenarios as to why we haven't heard anything even if they are close to a deal or if one's been struck… could be they've only gone part way through filling in all the tedious paperwork associated with a new deal and can't talk about it (NDA) until the last ‘I’ has been dotted and the last ‘t’ crossed.

I'm not sure how true this cashier's info is, but I was at Game Crazy earlier and asked the cashier about the Ghosbusters game. He said that Game Crazy received a memo stating that Vivendi Games picked up the game and will be publishing it, and also it may come out around March. I went to the New Philadelphia, Ohio location. Has anyone else been to a Game Crazy and heard the same story?
