And the last of the articles for December that I was privvy to:

N.Revolution - Issue 17

Playstation Official Magazine - UK - Issue 014 January 2008

-Items to note, the article mentions team-based online multiplayer (which sounds a lot like the multiplayer we've heard for Wii/PS2 version) and being able to drive Ecto-1, however as this at the moment contradicts some of the other reports I'd like to see more stuff about the Ecto-1 before I believe that tidbit. I assume the multiplayer is for the PS2 version.

Oh, and article writer's disdain for The Real Ghostbusters should not have been included.

*It seems just about every reporter that I've read touting the new GB game either:

a] Has a “smirky” attitude towards the whole thing.
b] Didn't do their homework on the game/franchise AT ALL, before rushing the thing to print.
c] BOTH.

(*egon)

*Cheers.

Indeed… sure, RGB wasn't everybody's cup of tea… but it was extremely popular, and there's a fair chance a person reading the article was a fan… column writers in magazines shouldn't inject a personal comment like that unless it's extremely appropriate.

The Idiot Who Wrote The Article
Do you remember The Real Ghostbusters? The cartoon series of the film that undid all that was good about the movie?

No. I do, however, remember the most suceessful cartoon movie spin-off of all time, which in it's earlier days put together many stories that were more enjoyable than Aykroyd and Ramis's retread sequel.

Perhaps that dick has confused “undid all that was good about the movie” with GB2?

It's absolutely nothing like the cartoon and every bit like the film

And that snotty attitude is supposed to make us excited about the game? What if we loved the cartoon, jackhole?

Like Ben said…

there's a fair chance a person reading the article was a fan…

So in essence, you're really not any better than the person who wrote that article. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, I'm just saying if you can have an opinion like that, then the writer surely can have the opinion he does about RGB.

He is better than the author because Fritz would know better than to inject such a personal comment into an article for the game.

It's not in hating RGB where we take issue, but it's throwing the opinion in there without due care or attention.

I admit I was a little annoyed when I wrote that, and got a bit snarky. I did turn his ridiculous hyperbole around on him intentionally. (I didn't hate GB2 or consider it the ruin of the franchise–but it definitely paled compared to the first. But that's a whole other discussion we've had numberous times).

But there's a big difference between being some amateur on a message board and being a professional allegedly trying to drum up interest in something. “Remember that popular show that sucked? I'm going to convince you to buy something that's related to it even though I'm going to indirectly make fun of you for liking it.”

The snotty comments didn't add anything to the article, and could have alienated more casual fans who might have opened the article going “Hey! Something about Ghostbusters! I loved that Ghostbusters cartoon! …What? This asshole thinks it sucks and is glad the game has nothing to do with it? Maybe I'm glad this means I don't have to buy it now!”

It'd be like me trying to promote Superman Returns by starting with a diatribe about how much I hate the Mary Sue From Krypton Supergirl. How many people who like that character are gonna look at the rest of the article with an unjaundiced eye?

I was surprised to see someone badmouthing RGB really. Usually the game's articles bad mouth or make fun of GB2.

Back on page 49 of this thread (on Dec. 14, 2007) I posted a list of direct urls to the images that have been released so far. I have just now (page 52, Dec. 30, 2007) gotten back to reading this thread and saw the reports that the Worth Playing links brought back “Forbidden” error messages. That's only if you clicked on the links or right-clicked and selected Save As. If you copied the url and viewed it directly in your browser, it worked.

However, since the list of urls were not meant to be clicked on and viewed or downloaded in your browser, I have re-coded them into static text. Each list is meant to be copy and pasted into a download manager program and downloaded en mass. When I did it, I didn't have to put in any referrer in my download manager to spoof as if I was coming from the sites those images came from. It's possible that you might have to.

I hope this now avoids any confusion or errors and anyone who wants to download the images can do so. As for the current topic at hand…

I completely agree that the Playstation Official Magazine article author was out of line with his comments about RGB. It didn't belong in the article, and if you edit out the first paragraph, the article reads just fine, which proves that it adds nothing to it.

And I *totally* agree with Fritz's comments about GB2 :-)

Sorry if I seem a bit peeved (I'm a little more touchy than usual after recent events. Hint: I hate the New England Patriots), but I didn't see this conversation in response to these 2 quotes.

“The film was a bit shit.” - PC Zone on Ghostbusters 2

“Who made the first two movies such wildly enjoyable romps. Okay, Okay - Who made the first movie such a wildly enjoyable romp.” Xbox Magazine.

They're not as rude, but they are definately not needed.

So anyway, I shall fix my saying before Fritz. “So in essence, these other 2 magazine writers are not really much better than the person who wrote that article.”
