In the systems of EB Games and Blockbuster it says the release date is still in October, does this mean the game will still be coming out on that date?

No, their databases mean nothing. The only official date will come from the new publisher. I don't get why people don't understand this.

I know, I have been telling at least 20 people per day telling them that retailers know NOTHING about release dates. Everything they put is pure speculation.

I can see why retailers do it so they can get people to buy the product if they know the release date, but come on.

what most people don't seem to understand is that Activision…Actibuzzard…Actibastard or whatever they call themselves now, have so-called “webmasters”(as do most companies that have websites) that are responsible for the content of the website being updated, but since there aren't any real updates…no new content!(*peter)

I know this isn't official and I know these kind of things are as reliable as anyone's speculation, but IGN labels Ghostbusters to come out March 31st 2009, which I think would be a great date to bring this game out and probably one of the more realistic speculations I have seen so far.

Was in Gamestop and got me an Xbox points card for Castle Crashers, was in my tank top and showing my tattoos of Megatron and GB on my arms. The salesman, really nice guy, loved the GB tat but came out and said “Oh man, the game was cancelled.”. I gave him a look and said “No, they got a new publisher.”. He really couldn't recover from that. He WAS a a nice guy, but I think he was trying to act like he knew so much and he didn't. He kept trying to saw it was canceled, but I finally said “No man, they announced a new publisher” then he said he heard it might be 2K and that would be cool. Really he wasn't rude, but I think SOME that work at gamestop think they know everything.

SO to all those that keep posting “But some say this!”, please enough. WE HAVE A PUBLISHER AND THE GAME IS NOT CANCELLED. There is NO release date, BUT we know the game is still a go and that is that.

*The guy I talked to at my Gamestop said that it IS in fact definetly coming out next year, but didn't give me an exact date…Go figure…And the CUUUuuuuuUUUTE girl cashier gave me her Ghostbusters lanyard, just because I asked nicely (*peter)(*ray)…

*I was at other Gamestop across the street no less than 5 minutes earlier , and the dude there was still convinced it was “Cancelled”…

Something tells me the game is in trouble. More than just lacking a publisher, especially for a “completed” game.

I'm wondering if it's not as completed as we've been led to believe, or perhaps they're out of their budget. I just have a feeling that there's more than meets the eye, and it still hasn't gotten a publisher yet. Call it a gut feeling.

Oh man, I don't want this to go the way of the hardcover book. How is it that Ghostbusters merchandise always gets the short end of the stick? I don't believe anything is coming out GB related until I actually hold it in my hands these days.

Just because the publisher's name hasn't been announced doesn't mean there isn't a publisher. As Proton Charging announced before, someone in the know has told him that there is a publisher lined up. There's just red tape and technicalities to be taken care of before they can officially announce it.
