Question on genres

I'm going to start writing a continuous story about a character I made up (Peter Kong). If you've read my posts (seen my photo sig), read my profile, or visited my franchise site, you'll know what I'm talking about. It's basically a big mix of Real Ghostbusters, Filmation Ghostbusters, Spider-Man, and The Legend of Zelda. What genre would it fit best? It doesn't seem natural to put it in under either GBI or GBII since it'll be written like a Saturday morning cartoon. And it wouldn't fit Real completely since it isn't completely Real Ghostbusters. (there will be villain appearances from RGB). And Extreme just doesn't cut it since it has absolutely nothing to do with EGB. Crossover might be the best, but it isn't exactly a crossover since it's a story of a character who's a combination of the 4 shows. What do you guys think? Crossover fits best, or should there be a 5th genre called other for weird literature that doesn't fit anywhere else.

Crossover….

Crossover. Most definately, crossover. Personally, I think that adding Legend of Zelda to the whole thing is a tad contradictory, and Spiderman is a bit iffy, but it has been done before.

I believe that Legend of Zelda would be better as a Dungeons and Dragons crossover, where all the things that encompass the whole Hyrule world abound…..but a paranormal investigations and eliminations company in modern-day earth, where science rules, and magic usually bites back if touched?….I think that's pressing the envelope.

I also read that your franchise offers vigilante style service. I hope you know what that means. Vigilantism isn't appreciated by the local authorities. If you are a sanctioned franchise, and backed by GBHQ in New York, then you are not a vigilante. If you are supposedly the only GB in the world, but are a legal business, then you are also NOT a vigilante….. vigilantism isn't a good thing, ya know wink

Do what you wish, I just had to throw in my two cents.

I'm forgetting all about doing any of this stuff. It's pointless. I'm not going to write any fanfics, construct anything, or any of that. It's just foolish. There really is no point to it. I'm just a mere dreamer. I just don't know what to do. I'm lost and alone. Perhaps I don't really belong in the world at all. Maybe I should just leave everyone (here, real life) and just go on with my life alone. I'm just confused. Sorry. I don't know what to do. Like I said, I just don't have any meaning. I don't belong.

Hey calm down! That's pretty deep stuff man! What do you mean that you don't have any meaning? I think the whole Peter Kong thing will be quite interesting you should definately go ahead with it.

Maybe I'm just not feeling well right now. I know it will work if I worked hard on it and just make a continueing story. Ok, the franchise thing is a bad idea, but maybe the fanfic is a good idea. I just hope there are more people out there who'd try to read what's being pictured in my head. Thanks for the pep up. Maybe it just needs a little more tinkering before the story line is ready for publication. Besides, my first fanfic, the RGB/FGB crossover hasn't been posted yet, but will probably up eventually. But, I'm debating about taking out Link and putting in Mega Man. However, I'm not sure if Ghostbusters is ready for a cyborg character. That would be weird.

I say the Hail Mary every night before bed and read the Bible once in a while. I may not go to church as often as I'd like to, but I keep the faith alive in my heart.

That makes 3 of us christians.

Look, dude. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go through with it. What I gave was my OPINION!!!!

Everyone has an opinion, and not all are the same.

The only thing that I truly nay-say is:
Legend of Zelda (which IMHO belongs in fantasy)

and vigilantes. If you're endorsed by GBI, you're not a vigilante, unless you work outside of the law.

These are just my OPINIONS. Take them or leave them. I think a merger of GB and FGB is cool, though. Take ME for example. All my GB stuff has a TON of crossovers, all of which I thought to be related “paranormal” material.

Crossover material for GB manhattan:
Ghostbusters (duh!)
Resident Evil
Silent Hill
Parasite Eve
Call of Cthulhu
Castlevania (look at my name!)
…and yes, even SCOOBY DOO!

that just scratches the SURFACE!

I'm an oddball myself, just throwing in my 2 cents. Take or leave any opinions you get, but just realize that some people may make fun of, or dissapprove of your stuff. Again, look at my story: “The night visitor”, I got ratings from every end of the spectrum!

Point is, we're all GBs here, and all should be welcome.

By the way, the “crossover overload” post was a joke. I apologize if you took it to heart. Is everything cool?

Don't worry about it bud, you can still make something an RGB story and put it in the crossover section. My Shining Crossover is RGB actually.
