Remembering RGB.

So like many of us, I've been hungrily digesting all of the Real Ghostbusters DVDs.

Some of the earlier episodes, I haven't seen in 22 years, and that was only one time for a few of them, yet I remember certain songs in musical breakdowns, various and random one-liners, and just remembering what comes next in some scenes.

Anyone else find themselves fully remembering episodes that likely haven't been seen in 20+ years?

On another note, I'm also really pleased how well the writing has held up over the years. These first eps really capture the pacing, the characterization, and the attitude of the films. These episodes are so laced with ‘80’s nostalgia that I actually do remember all of those ABC Saturday mornings where I actually got up early to watch this show.

It's a great set, but I'm surprised by how much that I actually DO remember.

For me it's not so much remembering specifics of every episode, so much as the feelings associated with them.

In another thread, I've commented on how well the show holds up and how I believe that is a result of good writing.

For me, the shows that age the best are the shows that have good scripts that don't belittle their audience. When a show is firing on all cylinders, it's writing flows. When it's struggling, it's usally because it hasn't been written out to it's fullest potential or an idea wasn't vetted enough.

When I watch Ghostbusters I am reminded that the mid-80's was the begining of an animation renaissance. The animation was better than the previous two decades and it's certainly a lot better than alot of the crap out there today.

The greatest thing I can say about the writing for RGB is that I “believe” the characters and care what happens to them. When you can do that in an animated format, you're doing a very good job.
