RGB DVD Editing Blooper

I wasn't too sure if posting this here would be okay if not, I only ask the moderator to forgive the posting of this if it is in the wrong place because in a way this has to do with the RGB. I'm not sure if anyone has actually spotted this little editing goof but I wanted to make sure if I ain't the only one who can see it. This is for those of you who own the RGB DVD Collectors boxset. Now to the point, on Volume 1 Disc 4, Episode “Night Game”, at exactly 9 min and 42 seconds on my computer (10 min and 36 seconds on my DVD player for some odd reason), right after the NoGhost says “…we will return after these messages,” during the blank spot before the return of NoGhost, I spotted something at the bottom of my screen that only flashed maybe for about 1 or 2 frames. Yes I play a lot of videogames… Anyways it turned out to be some leftover commercial for a restaurant. I already know what it is but I'll let you folks look at it. I've yet to find any more.

Ha, that's kinda funny. A Burger King commercial…

Does this mean that not all of the episodes were made off of master tapes? Surely the masters wouldn't have commercials included in them. (Or maybe they would, I don't know).

I believe that some episodes do have a small animation with the NoGhost saying “We now return to the Real Ghostbusters” as part of it.

They were on some of the master tapes.

So anyway, that is interesting you spotted that

In addition to the Burger King one, there are small glimpses of adverts of the era in other episodes as well. It kinda highlights how the bumpers didn't have to actually be a part of the episode, but should've been a special feature on the bonus disk.

I know about the “We now return part”, but that isn't really a commercial, that has to do with the cartoon. I just find it odd that some of the master tapes obviously had bits of commercials on them too.

They were not from the original masters, they were from the syndication package masters, thats why 1989 is messed up speed wise and why the Slimers were a separate set, they weren't part of the same package.

They sped up the 14 minute episodes (so they were 12 each plus intro and exit) to have room for commercials and made the regular episodes slower so all 1989 episodes were 26 minutes. I e-mailed Time Life about that and only got the form letter response so far. Hopefully They'll fix it. It's also why the custom to each episode “Well be right back” bit was missing from ‘88 and ’89, they just reused the season 1 versions (and why they still used Arsenio Hall long after he left), it's because the ones for those years mention/showed the missing Slimer! toons.

There are other goofs out there too. I think there is a list at GBFans.

The episodes were pulled from 1" broadcast masters. Most of them still had commercials intact. Some may have a few frames like you found as it is easy to miss sometimes when editing 80 hours of episodes.
